I've heard the staff from the Bulls Head have all been paid off, so maybe there won'rt be a new Bulls Head.
^ I would be *very* surprised if there is a new Bulls Head. (Although it's possible The Barbican may get renamed as that.) I just dont think the shareholders have the funds to invest on the scale needed to open one.
Plus the market is very different from when they first opened 17 years ago when there was only really a couple of English pubs around and none in the Sukhumvit area.

I think the problem they have here is that the Bulls Head was the cash cow of the 2 pubs/bars they operated and one to an extent was subsidising the other.
Unfortunately they got evicted from the wrong business.
I heard the reason the landlord wanted them out was because the landlords son wished to start his own business in the premises (just rumour on the grapevine) so interesting to hear the suggestion that Robin Hood owners may be taking over.
Rumours, rumours

Yep, Robin Hood, my reference to 'not what I heard' was the sons business part of the statement.
It (old Bull's Head) will be renamed as the ROYAL OAK. New manager has been hired already. New opening will be announced soon.
Another shit pub in Bangkok if those wankers are running it.Originally Posted by CNF55

very interesting, if it is true then I for one hope they all will head back to soi 33/1. Same pub, same staff, all they need is to get Billy back and I would be one happy old codger. I miss muttering into my beer at the BH.Originally Posted by Bobcock

Seems unfortunate that the longstanding owners not only lost the business but also I assume, the opportunity to sell the goodwill on with the lease having expired some time ago.
The "Old Bulls Head" site is now reopen (soft opening no food yet) and I have to say, credit were credits due! Its very nice inside. They have not made many changes but the changes they have made are really good IMHO.
The prices were VERY good too! Its the cheapest bill I have had in an age for a nice place like it is.
Gets my vote!
Fucking hell, the owners had been widly jealous of that place for fucking years. They used to stir shit up with that place with rumours all the time. I remember Billy politely telling them to fuck off when they tried to employ him.
Pains me to know that they've got it, fatty will be rubbing his hands with glee.

No sympathy from me. Bad business management by the owners to get in that position with no backup plans in place.Originally Posted by ossies
