    Ayutthaya Sherwood House & Restaurant

Sherwood House: Dechawut Road right near the historical park.Telephone 035-321-631.

Now this place is the only low end place with a swimming pool in Ayutthaya, but if you aint staying there you do have to pay 45baht to use the pool, now this all sounds well and good but at the weekends they have loads of kids there, so if you got your Friday night hangover it maybe a bit too noisy for you, I think they only have 4 rooms and the bathrooms are shared, anyway I only went there to eat.

This place as you go in is the restaurant and bar, again as most of these weird places in Ayutthaya you have to leave your shoes outside, thank God I live in Pattaya, I aint gonna get used to the idea of leaving my shoes outside of restaurants, (did I mention the internet cafes? 2 of the ones I use in Ayutthaya also make you leave your shoes outside, foking weird idea that is for a business, could you imagine the local Lotus supermarket doing that?)

I went there quite a few times mainly for beans on toast, this was quite good but the beans each time were only lukewarm, but hell I am well 'ard, I can eat beans straight from the fridge

Now I have to admit I never thought of going there for an evening meal untill last night when the swordman of Ayutthaya had to meet someone there,(more about the Ayutthaya swordman Later) so off we went.

my normal brekkie of beans on toast, I think it is about 40baht.

Now onto the good stuff, yep the evening meals The Ayutthaya sword man had the baguettes, I believe he is actually a French man masquerading as someone from Luxemborg, obviously as there are so many English Language teachers in Ayutthaya he can't admit to being French cos nobody would like him, luckily he had in the restuarant about 10 swords he had brought with him from the car just incase the people there realised he may have been a Frenchman, I should add that not all the French are scummy horrible people, the swordman of Ayutthaya is quite a nice chap

You got to admit that looks delicious and at 75baht it is a bargain....

Obviously me being English I had the Cottage Pie, now this was damn good and was napalm hot, it was bubbling for the first 5 minutes it was on the table, had chicken, mushrooms and bacon on the inside, probably one of the best meals that I have eaten in Ayutthaya.

I suppose we should stick a picture of their swimming pool in, this is probably a really good place to stay in during the week, but I should imagine that during school holidays and weekends the noise level would be really high.

I got to admit they are slow but that really isn't important in a restaurant, the only annoying thing I found was that they would bring the food before they brought your drink, but I got erm sussed now, I just order a drink and when that comes I order the food, otherwise everytime they brought the food first and I am thirsty as fok with a dry throat so I cant eat anything, maybe that is why the beans were cold all the time

I remember going to that place a few years back and seeing that the prices in the English-language menus were noticeably higher than the same dishes in the Thai-language menu.

    Not that we've noticed.
