Thanks to a recommendation from Chico the Fox I just picked this up in Tops.

TGM Canadian Bacon. 107bt and there's about 10 strips in there. Just had a bacon sarnie and it cooked up bloody lovely. Sorry, I was too hungry to take a pic of it cooked but I'm gonna have another later or an English breakfast so I'll snap a shot then.

They only had 2 packs left so I took both and put one in the freezer. You can find it hidden amongst all those crappy looking sausages on the little deli counter.

I mis-counted, Once I got stuck into the pack there were actually 12 slices. That's bloody good for 107bt.

Here are the sausages used if anyones interested.

From the freezer section in Tops. A bit pricey at 220ish bt but excellent breakfast sausages.

    And the beans. 45bt.

Why are they called Pork & Beans? (Q: to the Americans) They just tasted like normal beans to me, which is what I was hoping for. English pork & beans taste like shit and have bits of cheap pork in.

    Pork and Beans

They are still often known in the U.S. as Pork and Beans because originally the beans were slow cooked in a large pot ...and a lump or two of Pork fat was added as flavoring to slow cook the beans.
The lumps of Pork fat added flavor to the Beans...which were often boiled for several hours in large pots hung over the fireplace.
Somewhere the Pork and Baked Beans name was shortened to just Baked Beans...but the Pork fat was always an important ingredient added for taste to the Baked Beans.
Beans baked in a large pot hung over a fireplace...with some Pork fat added for flavor and some Molasses added for sweetening was a vital part of every meal in the Colonial U.S. and continued on for well over a centuary as a basic food. It was considered a "poor people's food", but provided all the protein you needed to exist.

^ That's what I was praying wouldn't come out of the tin.

You could easily make that yourself, just go down 7Eleven, buy some crap sausages and mix them in with your beans to ruin them.

I just need to know what the best STREAKY bacon in Thailand would be. All of the back bacon I have tried is excellent, but I am American, so I need an occasional fix of streaky. My Thai GF does not seem to think much of Manston Foods' streaky bacon. I thought it was about the best. She is extremely picky.

I would argue that the best bacon is what you make yourself. It isn't that difficult if you are willing to put a bit of time into it.

However, if that doesn't work for you, a friend of mine as suggested that Prime Pattaya Smokehouse makes pretty good bacon.
