Krispy Kreme Siam Paragon - why the fuss?

So Krispy Kreme has finally come to Thailand. I wish I would have thought to get a franchise.....as it seems the Thai are losing their minds over the dog-nuts.

How about a White Castle franchise? Would the Thais flip over sliders as well??

They are ok.....well the sour cream flavored ones are.

Have you ran down to buy a doughnut?

    Do you like Krispy Kreme?

Are the Thais fad crazy or what?

The ones with a bit of money are. Will latch on to anything makes them feel "cosmopolitan". In the case of Krispy Kreme they will feel several kilos heavier as well.

I suspect it will be like Mcdonalds new store in Udon, queues outside the door for a week or two and now all you see is one or two customers at a time, when its busy

We should applaud McDonalds for bringing usable and accessible toilets to Thailand.

Slowly but surely, and in combination with the great Thai invention of the bum squirter, Thais are realising that squatting over a hole in the ground and wiping one's anus with one's fingers using stagnant malarial bucket water is medieval.

    Well done McDonalds!

I walked by the Krispy Kreme store on Saturday at Siam Paragon. There was a big queue and many people buying several large boxes at a time. I heard that a Krispy Kreme franchise costs 30 million US. I don't understand all the fuss for a doughnut.

Thais just love joining new queues as they feel they might miss out on something. Pity they can't do it when driving!

I figured since it was hangover food, it would be a hit in Thailand.

You would be safer with In and Out Burger or Wendys.

KK is great back in the USA........probably the best. Warm with coffee....really good stuff.

But over here we already have Daddy Donut, a KK clone. So, all people have to do in the Paragon is walk over to DDs and skip the line at KK.

Used to love KK when I was a kid. Would slide in there about 5AM right after I finished my paper route in the snow and freezing cold. Hot coffee and fresh from the oven KK's. Magic! Can't actually imagine eating one now, though.
