Trip to the local market up north-east

When i stay up north at the Girlfriends, one of the highlights of the week is the market, the market before this a 15yr old boy was stabbed to death in what apeared to be villgae v village stuff, i was a bit on edge when i was taking these.

Get to the market and nice and busy-

Infact very busy, it gets a bit less crowded as night draws in

Everything on offer, even clothing but im limited due to the large farang frame

Not so busy there and great to have a breather, and get some toiletries

Now the best bits - the food

The red sausage stuff is pretty tasteless and you need plenty of fire saurce with them, then the usual pork balls that dont taste of pork

And my fave gear, i bought about 3 bags of each here - anything in batter yum

    Some boiled eggs?

More eggs? these did have me tempted - fried eggs

I usually drop a few pounds up there, i dont mind thai food but lau food is something diffrent, by the end of the second week this pizza? looks fantastic!

The one thing thats as good as home is the sweets/ cakes

The gf makes a last call for some freshwater goodies

I could not work out what this skull was in the centre?

Say goodbye to my new friend, he was in pieces at me leaving!

The last call of the night - ice cold milk shakes

And thats one the highlights, i stuff my face and the gf kids get a little spoilt and it dont break the bank

Umm... I hate to break it to you, but Roi Et is North East. I was just about to drive to Chiang Mai to pick up a pig's head or two.

Bit of lazy typing, its easier to go with north and south being a northern the lad in the uk we dont bother with west and east, its just north and south

You're right. They look exactly the same as those sweet desserts and cooked in the same manner.

Thai Food - Fried Quail Eggs

And what I was referring to...

    Thai Food - Coconut Pudding

    Classic -

I've always wondered if they sell everything at these markets, some of the stalls sure appear to have plenty of food - Great pictorial

    Markets are always interesting places.
The one up in the wife's village near Chaiyaphum is smaller, but there is a place in the middle that sells cold drinks including beers. I like to sit there and people watch after I have done the rounds. But usually most of the people are watching me, LOL.
Its fun to see how the kids react when they see a whitie too.

    Thanks for the pics.
