Had a lovely case of the trots today pre-lunch time. All I ate since last night's 'enchiladas' were my morning ground coffee and home baked croissants as always.
Had to call the contact I met there in the afternoon and they said they had the same trotting experience today.
And to get get back to the enchiladas, as Nawty mentioned, were like soggy cardboard, mine were also luke warm, like the sauce and cheese on top were put in a microwave for not quite long enough.
By far the worst dining experience that I can recollect.
And I've lived in Isaan.![]()
You should try drinking your coffee, far better than eating it.Originally Posted by Chairman Mao

Should add that another aspect I found disappointing, and quite surprising, was a lack of combo meals. You know, a few tacos, enchiladas, burritos etc etc and a few drinks for a set price, so 2 or 3 or 4 diners can all help themselves to whatever they want.
But instead all they had were the individual set meals - tacos with crap rice and peas, and kidney bean water slop.
Shithole.
So hey, if any of ye restaurant owners want a Mao Restaurant Review, just gimme a shout.

Had the breakfast burrito this morning at the paragon branch and it tasted great... No complaints from me, although I have occasionally had a sub standard meal delivered via chef xp.
I have been at the Sunrise restaurants Soi 12 and Siam Paragon three weeks ago for the first time at Soi 12 and one week ago for the second time. I have to say the place is spacious , even though it was busy and we had a short wait, its clean and the atmosphere good. Both locations had good service (their English is pretty good), had the tacos with grilled chicken. Both times it was fresh, very tasty and you have a lot of choice. Ate at Los Cabos about a month ago and it was over 300 Baht for two tacos. Here it was in the 180 range for three tacos. 60 baht each versus more then 150 Baht each. Even though it was more expensive, I prefer the taste at Sunrise.
I understand why lot of people go to eat there. Service, food, clean and price all are positive features here. Sorry for my poor English.

^ Are you one of the Mexican cooks that works there
Its amazing how when someone posts an objective but less than glowing report of a restaurant, the owner and or his mates attempt to apply their own spin.
I dunno why they bother as its very transparent.
But he has all of one post on here.I dunno why they bother as its very transparent.
Isn't that 3 tacos with no sour cream or cheese. A little squirt of microwaved sauce, and padded out with half a kilo of lettuce? Here it was in the 180 range for three tacos.
How much are 3 tacos there that are fully loaded with cheese and sour cream. You should know pretty well as you probably own the place.
Why does someone have to write negative, are they against the owner? Thats what I don't understand.
I'm a customer. Granted only twice but feel it is important that I tell about my experience. The way it reads now anything negative must be true. Anything positive must be the owner or mate. I'm neither a owner or mate. If the place is so bad, why was it so packed? Others feel like me, its good. We are not in the USA or Mexico but its as close as you can get.
The only thing I can think is someone has a hardon for the owner. If the place was empty and had no clue or was expensive. Then hardon on but in this case it does not meet with reality that its popular.
It most certainly isn't. Haven't you been to any other Mexican restaurants here?
I had a few tacos there once, minute little things, with a dribble of filling, pack filled with lettuce, and didn't even come with cheese or sour cream unless ordered.
They were cheap, but certainly not cheerful.
And no hard-on for the owner. And yes, anyone who classifies Sunrise as the closest thing you can get to a real mexican food experience, most probably has affiliation with the restaurant.
Yes I've eaten at every place in town. Any that is listed when I put in Mexican restaurant Bangkok in google.
Don't know when you went but they are generious on the meat to the extreme. Never got a taco that was as big as theres. Always been asked if I want cheese or sour cream or both. Just checked and see they have it on their online menu on chefsxp as well. I will give you the benefit of the doubt you are not a troll. Everybody has diffrent taste but "puny" I would find that hard to believe.
One other poster pointed out they have Mexican chefs working for them and thats as close as you will come to Mexico. I like their food. Try it again and if you are not a competitor or affiliated with one, odds are good you will like it as well. Certainly it won't be puny. Take a picture and please no photoshop. :-)
Actually think the person I had to meet there took a photo of the gray slop kidney beans.
Will ask if they have a pic of that place that gave us both the trots.
And I wouldn't go back there if it were free.

Cos he has his fat ass in his chair and cannot get out of it.....so may as well do something to create more money so he can sneak off to maccas......thats after the mexicans pull the chair off of his arseOriginally Posted by peterpan

I went to Sunrise once.
It was okay, but never been back. Had Corona at 3 for the price of 2 which was nice. The food was okay; made a nice change, but didn't make me think WOW. If I was in the area and fancied some Mexican I would happily go back. The staff were polite and efficient. The bill was okay.
Sunrise is step above fast food. Not great but certainly not as bad as Chairman Mao's exaggerated description either. By the way, those are refried pinto beans, not kidney beans. Any debate about the authenticity of Mexican food is a big waste of time. Fact is, much of what passes as good Mexican food in the States has been re-engineered from its roots to meet American tastes.
It was when we went there. Not great but certainly not as bad as Chairman Mao's exaggerated description either.
Forgot that I got me mate to send these. He took 'em with his phone as we were both pretty shocked with what had been presented to us.
My luke warm enchiladas that tasted like old socks. The sauce on top was more cold, than hot.
Doesn't that gray bean slop look appetizing. Yummy orange rice and peas too, a la 7-11.
Both of us had the shits the next day.
Really wonder if we go to the same place? I never ever had gotten sick or shits from eating there or have my friends. The food also is always hot. In order to melt the cheese on top, they had to use a hot stove or something to do that
Wonder how long ago this picture was taken and what time ? I never seen a presentation like that. I eat there in the afternoon and night. Always seen a Mexican flag and salad with tomato on the side. Also sometimes a chip in the refried beans.
Rice, guess you don't know Mexican rice. Put Mexican rice into google images and most images you will see the rice is orange from using tomatoes and they put corn or peas in it. I find the new rice they make, very good. My daughter says "amazing"
Beans, I know before they were using red beans for refried. Couple weeks ago they switched to pinto beans. Which I found at Villa being three times the price of reds. I myself love pintos.
I'll see if I can't make it over today and order it. I'll take a picture.
