Where I grew up as trailer trash, nobody bought KFC as frying chicken at home was much cheaper. Snubs...good fried chicken was a "thing" growing up, which KFC wasn't. However, the best fried chicken I've ever had was done by a Muslim guy who set up a cart at Fashion Island in the evenings. The best the wife and I could determine is that he put lime juice in the batter.

My dinner everyday consists of my wife's fried chciken and a big bowl of steamed vegetables including carrots, broccoli, pumpkin and beans or peas.

Sounds boring but her fried chicken recipe is the best I have had.

    I mentioned DINNER Willy.

Another meal everyday include either Pies, Lasagna, Chilli Con Carne, Cottage Pie, Pizzas and Spare Ribs which I prepare myself in about 10 minutes.

I’m impressed. A lasagna usually takes me an hour. Spare ribs about the same or longer.

They are pre-made and all I do is through them in the microwave and then the air-fryer for a few minutes.

I guess my wife's secret is she cooks the meals around 90%, then packs the meals in containers and the final cooking is done by me during the heating process.

The spare ribs are particularly nice and as proof a number of restaurants and bars buy them frozen and then reheats them and serves them as a full meal.

Sound advice, Many have chosen mutton dressed as Lamb over the years. With Avian flu, toxic anal feather reaction, salmonella probably safer to drink.

    .

Which means you’re not really cooking them yourself in 10 minutes. Just reheating them.

In the days when I routinely visited Shenzhen the object of my affections and I often walked up (a bit) the mountain at the east end of the city. There was a farmer there with chickens and occasionally vegetables. Missy would choose a chook and he'd catch it then he'd soothe it and sort of squat behind it, holding it between his knees until it was completely calm. Then he'd slit its throat. He insisted that a calm chicken tasted better than a stressed chicken. He might have been right. I also think you respect your food more when you've seen it alive.

Some trout farms in Australia use this philosophy for better tasting trout.

I can't say it really bothers me. They Mongol way of slaughter is pretty unusual

Sad to say, you never will, as the owner retired and sold the business. I will miss the place dearly. A five-minute walk from my house...

Faark i read all of that, im quite shocked,i once was at a party with filipino mates in olongapo and as i had had spare chairs to lend them i arrived early to drop them of and got to witness there method of despatching a 25kg pig for the lechon barbie. 10 of them held it while a 20 litre jug of datu puti ( filipino vinagar) was forcibly rammed down its gullet via a strange hose and funnel.setup. the pig basicly drowned in the stuff, marinated from the inside. Pretty weird but damn that was one hell of a good lechon

@snubs - that looks like great pizza but I'm getting a heart attack by just looking at it. I'm interested in their Maui (pineapple) pizza, though.

@BLD - in some provinces, it's common to hear the sound of pigs being butchered during early mornings. When I was younger, I sometimes heard it in my hometown/ village. But now, my area has been "modernized" and raising pigs isn't allowed anymore.

Again when I was younger (in high school), my mom bought 2 piglets and we raised them. We even gave them names: Piggy and Pigga. My sis and I were in charge of cleaning their wastes and giving them baths sometimes (using a hose). They were so cute when they scratched their backs/ sides on the cement wall. When Piggy and Pigga were grown, my mom contacted a buyer. The buyer came to our house, hung the pigs upside down to weigh them. During that time, the pig was squealing its heart out. It broke our hearts (mine & my sister's) to hear the sounds. We even shed a few tears. It's good that we didn't see/ hear them being slaughtered.

After that, my mom didn't buy piglets anymore since our neighborhood got more populated and the neighbors might complain of the noise/ smell.

I think this was discussed here in the past. I am firmly of the school that says pineapple has no place on a pizza.

The place was not for daily eating, for sure, and trust me even I could only eat two slices. The picture I posted was a large, that weighed over 6 pounds (2.8 KG) feeds a small army.

Years ago the company i worked for in the philippines had rented a house in a lovely little place called Claveria, the house came with a gigantic boar penned out the back, one early morning i was awoken to the most horrific squeels of pain from the grunter, they had dedided to cut of his impressive gonads in order to make the boar meat less gamey, the pig definately didnt agree with this and promptly died, which wasnt in there master plan, then it was about 3 hours of chop, chop chop, he still got sold.

^ There used to be a butcher a couple of doors down from my apartment. One morning, we heard the squeals for about 10 minutes it seemed. The neighbors complained and that was the end of the butcher's.
