    Saman Turkish

...standard fare from this place located in Sun Square off Silom...grilled chicken, bland humus, uninteresting eggplant and fairly tasteless grape leaves...all edible though nothing stood out except the freshly baked bread...one visit was enough as SD doesn't like lamb and that ingredient featured prominently on the menu...I had a large Heineken to hide my disappointment...
Majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd

Thanks for the warning, I've spent months in the Black Sea but to be honest apart from the excellent olives and coffee the Syrians and Lebs seem to make a better fist of the same ingredients. As you point out it helps if you like lamb, which of course is unlikley to be the fresh organic variety available in other climes.
Aside from Istanbul the finest Turkish food I've sampled was in Holland,Sydney or Doha having never found one in Thailand I liked!
Can you also just have a coffee as a real Turkish coffee is worth the hike?

Thank you for all your well photographed and detailed reviews.Happy holidays and keep them coming
