    Redefine Meat

Nothing quite hits the spot like a 3-D printed steak.

Those tech savvy Israelis are at it again.

What is redefine meat made of?

In July 2019, Redefine Meat unveiled what it called the world's first plant-based steak produced using industrial digital manufacturing of plant-based ingredients. The firm says it uses soy and pea protein, as well as some other 'standard plant-based ingredients'.

    How does redefine meat work?

Redefine Meat uses 3D printers and “ink” to “print” the steaks. The firm aims to sell the printers and the cartridges to meat distributors worldwide, who will both print and distribute the meat once produced. The “ink” is made of plant-based ingredients similar to what a cow eats.

    How is 3D meat made?

By isolating beef cells, the scientists organized how the muscles, blood vessels, and fat should be stacked. The researchers then shaped these tissues into the form of a steak using a technique called 3D bioprinting, where cell structures can be layered to resemble real tissues in living things.

    Enough.

    It aint meat.

I eat cows so I don't have to eat grass. They make the grass turn into meat for me. This is how the gods intended it to be.

I’m broadly in agreement with Willy here. I accept that a certain measure of methane might be a contributing factor for global climate change, and I admit that redefine technology is beyond me.
How could we deny a future generation of the delights of Aberdeen Angus beef, or the distinctive flavour of Welsh Lamb?
Game is another under appreciated resource. Rabbit, Venison, Pheasant and partridge all contribute to an awesome choice for the palate.

Unless redefine can create such distinctive flavors, it’s a NO from me.

How would children learn that crocodile tastes like chicken, unless they tried it themselves? Enough fakery around in daily life as it is.

^To be honest I'd take Thai beef over any of this laboratory manufactured shit they're passing off as meat alternatives these days. Have never done it but would think you could make Thai beef edible with a 6+ hour braise, but this imitation meat will always be best left for activists that think they're saving the world.

I fully agree with you, but if they are going to manufacture fake meat, they have to make it good or it's a complete failure.

The future is soilent green. Only the rich will be able to afford to drive around in a vehicle with an ICE and likewise enjoy real meat. The plebs will have public transport and a weekly printed ration......if they are lucky. You will probably be able to send your order off and get it printed and delivered with the rest of your shop, the more affluent will have a printer in their house. Its all getting a bit like star trek with replicators.

Have already prepped tonight's slow cooked ribs, and will actually include a plant-based aspect to the meal.

The paper napkins we use to wipe the glorious, luscious melted pig fat off our chops will be 100% PB.
