    Buster's Fish and Chips

...located in a remodeled shop house next to Villa Supermarket in Sukh. soi 33/1...We ordered the battered cod and the battered haddock: batter crisp and fish succulent. The french fries were free of grease...almost as if they had been baked. SD wanted to try a deep-fried Mars bar with vanilla ice cream for dessert: not as bad as I thought it would be. Asahi beer served in smallish cans...rising fish decor made a refreshing change from ducks...

    The chips look awful.

    The ice-cream looks nice.

Good to see Sarsons malt vinegar available.

It will work if that's what you mean, right up until the point that someone leaves it unplugged or someone with light fingers walks off with it.

Well it looks a good deal cleaner than the 'offshore' anyway.

    But...oven chips?

Not at all... it looks great as it is.

In saying that , I was brought up to always have something green on my plate at dinner time. I can't help feeling that a portion of something green would have complimented that meal.

    Peas maybe?

I see the Sea bass is 330.

We get ours from the market and fillet it ourselves, then serve it up like this (with tartar sauce and a proper lemon wedge if we can get them) for 250:

As for the mars bar and ice-cream, they should do better than that.

Aye, we buy other fish too, just depends what's going. Menu says catch of the day. Fresh seabass or snapper is still better than frozen cod. Haddock is king, obviously, but we can't get it at a price we can sell it for down our way.

BTW, have you ever tried a battered mars bar?

Appear to be of the processed frozen type, actually so does the fish.

Smith's on Soi 13 (I think) is meant to be more authentically English. If that's a good thing.
