I'm an avid menu reader. Must say, Bk prices for decent western food are above Adelaide prices these days.

...so, decent western food is cheaper in Adelaide...imagine that...
Well, maybe giving my age away- but I do remember when Bangkok was a lot cheaper than here.
(Still is for noodles)
...Thai food cheaper in Bangkok than western food in Adelaide...imagine that...
Man cannot live on noodles alone.
Pint n' parmy (chicken or beef parmigiama) w/ chips & salad bar at a local pub, $11/ 220bht (Lunch only). Beat that, Oriental scum!
But a basic noodle dish, with no pint thrown, will cost you at least that at a food court- go figure. Big serving though.
Swings & roundabouts, innit? But if you're Asian and know how to toss a wok, you can do pretty well here. I do miss street food a bit.
^ I'm talking about here lom- Adelaide Sth Oz. At a shopping centre food court, a stir fry will set you back around $12. Seems expensive, when I can get a pint n parmy for $11 down the pub! Same basic stir fry in a local pub menu will set you back $19-23. Yikes.
So obviously I eat less Asian food these days.

...so, your contribution to this thread is that you're eating less Asian food because it's expensive in some Australian backwater...noted...
Just meandering and pontificating, as if. what are you sulking about now?
He couldn't load his picture of a gerbil skateboarding on the 'strange and unusual facts' thread.
So, if I get this right, Western food is more expensive in Bangkok than Australia, and, well Thai food is more expensive in Australia than in Bangkok?
Think we need to get Luigi in on the water is wet argument at this point.
That's the gist of it, except for a bit of starry eyed nostalgia over when Bk was much cheaper, even for western food.
I also don’t remember this bit. If it was western food, it was a Thai rendition of it that made it cheaper. Like very thin (and overcooked) steak. Or, hollandaise sauce which was just runny egg yellow because too cheap to use the butter. Mayonnaise instead of cheese on pizza. Bleh.
...Pala re-opens!
SD and I stopped in for lunch...the restaurant removed half its tables and couldn't serve wine, but what the hell...among our favorite orders: pan-fried sea bass on a bed of steamed spinach with a butter-lemon-caper sauce. Fabulous. SD had the ribeye with a rocket parmesan salad, roast potatoes and a tangy gravy...there were tears in his eyes as he sopped up the last morsel with Pala's excellent table bread...Montepulciano, of course, would have made it a truly celebratory occasion...maybe next month, Covid willing...
Majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd
^ As if a glass of wine is going to increase the risk of catching covid. I really can't fathom some of the silly rules that governments decide to impose.
Glad you enjoyed your meal.
