Retired Boeing 747 gets second life as a Bangkok cafe

Missing those fuselage feels and craving on-board dining? Indulge both in Bangkok without fussing through security at an airplane-turned-cafe in the eastern outskirts.
Climb aboard a Boeing 747 that once belonged to a defunct former airline situated on 10 rai (1.6 hectares) in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district at 747 Cafe, named after the plane’s model, a new destination for enthusiastic cafe-hopping completionists.
Pose in pilot or cabin crew uniforms for photos before sitting down to sip caffeinated drinks or fruit sodas.

The double-decker aircraft offers a dining area for customers to order drinks and baked goods to enjoy in windowside seats inside the stripped-down airframe. Patrons can also climb to the second level to look around the cockpit. There, one can even sit and pretend to be the captain. Feel better now?
The cafe was made possible by aviation nerds Bandit “Pilot Johnny” Lawanrattanakul and Nithiroj Chawalertwattanachai.
The plane formerly belonged to Orient Thai, whose budget carrier One-Two-Go crashed an MD-82 in Phuket in 2007, killing 87. It went out of business in 2018.
Admission to board the plane is THB120 and comes with one drink.
The 747 Cafe is located on Luang Phaeng Road in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district. It’s open 9am to 6pm every day.
The cafe, however, is not Thailand’s first so-called plane cafe. Just last year, 331 Station debuted in Pattaya offering customers dining and drinking inside a retired commercial airplane.
    Shalom

Yeah, drove past there not long ago and was a bit surprised to see a spanking clean A330 parked up next to a road junction.

Luckily not Thai Airways and you checkout and your bag's been pilfered.

Our place was just a little over a kilometer away from where that is going in . Thai friend did some backhoe work for them so he has been clueing me in on the progress. Hoping it is open on our next trip back.

So many great locations around in CM though...places where you can order a light snack and coffee.

Which when it eventually arrives will be mediocre at best.

What compensates though is the breeze blowing through the trees and the view.

Well, at least outside smoke season.

After all, you can probably make better coffee at home, having picked something up to take away from a bakery.

Why the fuck go and sit in a plane?

In Korat you don't sit in the plane, at least not last time I went. You sit outside the plane with your coffee and look at it.

Mind you, there's not a lot of competition for things to do in Korat.

I went here a few months back (New Year).

Very nice and would recommend for lunch with the missus.

Best go before the Chinese tours come back and ruin the place.

There are some nice bars near the Wing 41 gates in CM where you sit under a retired military jet. Spent some nice evenings there during the clear air months!
