I'm way ahead of you guys.

When I eventually get to open my monster bag of 480 Yorkshire Tea Bags, I'll fill up the glass pickle jar I keep tea bags in by the kettle and then decant the remainder into plastic zip-lock bags.

    Fresh tea for cheap.

It's not a particularly full-bodied tea like an assam. You should try a breakfast tea if you want something stronger. Another alternative would be a Chinese brick tea, the ones I've had have always been good.

Great minds think alike Mendip and I had already sub-bagged my 2nd box.

I also concocted a batch-size testing experiment to work out how many bags cam be ziplocked together to maintain good edge to the taste to the end of the ziplock batch

A nice cup of tea with a custard tart on a Saturday afternoon. This is what life's all about.

I think it was Shutree who mentioned Miles Tea? Comes in 6 sealed sachets of 40 teabags so freshness is no problem.

A nice, square teabag as well.

^ Yes, it does. The Norwegians only seem to drink coffee and there are never any tea bags available in these offices unless I bring my own.

But yesterday I had a disaster... I'd taken my eye off the ball and realised that there were only two Miles tea bags left in the sachet I'd brought over for this trip. The work has been extended and I have at least another two weeks to go.

Norway is a culinary desert and I was resigned to picking up a box of Lipton's English Breakfast Tea from the local supermarket.

But thank God for immigration. I popped into this Palestinian corner shop on the off chance...

And struck gold... 240 PG Tips pyramid tea bags for 95 NOK, or 8 quid in real money. Not bad at all, and now I'm well covered for the rest of this trip. This should really be in the 'Daily Cheer' thread.

I think these may even be cheaper than in the UK?

Next door to my Palestinian place is the sort of shop the Norwegians typically seem to keep... a hobby 'boutique' selling what look like the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever seen... and host of other extortionately priced, useless bric-a-brac. It was nice to see a proper phone box though.

Even if it has been converted into a book shop. No chance of taking a leak in there after the pubs kick you out.

I can't find the photos but the best cup of tea I had by FAR was on the side of a country lane in the green countryside of the far flung reaches of Dakaa.
The guy was making tea in a huge ancient looking pot over a fire that looked like it'd been burning since Adam was a boy, it was strong and flavourful with a hint of marsala. The environment helped I think, drinking it outside under an old tree.
    I'm pissed I can't find those photos.

The South African Queen came back for a 6 hour conjugal visit on Friday morning before another marathon 16 hour care-work shift.

I fell asleep and she had already left when I woke up in the afternoon in time for my Twinings tea, which did not really live up to its 3/4 leaf strength rating.

    A nice cup of tea-img_20220715_042748-jpg

This time I found that the front door latch was not locked so I was given my freedom.

I am not sure if that was a reflection on a diminished view, on her part, of my 2nd round performance.

Or maybe she was thinking: If you love something let it go. If it comes back it's your forever and if it doesn't it was never yours to begin with.

But I did not leave without trying on a few of these bewts first.

    A nice cup of tea-img_20220715_204044-jpg

And with that business taken care of I made good my escape. Farewell fine fiddy for now.

Having moved on from icky poisonous toxic alcohol last month, I decided to go one step further and switch my 1-2 slow morning coffees to 1-2 slow morning tea. Not the glorious dried flower herbal tea we partake of upon the eve, normal tea in a normal teabag.

All we have in the villa are bags of that yellow label Lipton stuff.

So since last Monday, it's been my relaxing morning cuppa.

I do however feel it wouldn't be difficult to move up in the world of morning teas from these yellow label teabags, so I'm starting to look at tea leaves.

The first up on Lazada were actually Lipton yellow label tea leaves.

    ชา lipton yellow label (ชนิดใบ) มีขนาด 200-400 กรัม | Lazada.co.th

At only 75thb for 200 grams, I checked the box of teabags and they are only 50 grams (25 bags of 2grams each). Paper and string is expensive it seems.

I feel however this slight modification to one's morning cuppa isn't exactly a large step into the world of fine morning tea sipping, and there are better options out there.

Earl gray leaves are a possibility.

    From Türkiye.

    ชาเอิร์ลเกรย์ (Earl Grey Tea) แบรนด์ Caykur Tomurcuk Cayı ขนาด 125 กรัม สินค้าคุณภาพจากประเทศตุรกี | Lazada.co.th

    From Lundan, Guv

    ทไวนิงส์ ชาสีทองอ่อน รสเบา เอิร์ล เกรย์ ชนิดผง 100 กรัม Twinings Earl Grey Loose Tea 100 g. | Lazada.co.th

Any recommendations for morning tea leaves? (a half spoon of sugar and big glug of milk would be added )

^ Earl Grey is awful stuff and cannot be classed as Tea as i understand it - its as flowery as one of Sausages posts and as pretentious. Get an English Breakfast tea, pour on hot water and leave it for the time it takes you to glue up another childs toy shelf and it'll be ready.

Senorita Surabaya got in touch after ghosting me in a pre-Christmas flounce over some perceived slight only visible to females.

So we made friends again over a nice cup of tea at her gaff.

    A nice cup of tea-20240211_214355-jpg

She has a new witch's brew tea made from some kind of fossilised flower.

    A nice cup of tea-20240211_214401-jpg

But luckily the box of PG Tips that I left in her cupboard 2 years ago is still half full so I was able to dodge the witch's toil and trouble.

That is the tell-tale PG Tips shar'ks fin peaking above the surface in the mug.

A damsel in some distress rolled in late at night with little warning and had to be consoled with a cup of Yorkshire Strong. Nothing sorts out problems like a proper brew and Chitty will attest that it does not come stronger than this stuff.

I had not seen hide nor hair of Miss South Sudan since Christmas. Tonight, she had broken down on the freeway and had to beg help from 3 strange men in the dark to change her wheel and then limped to my gaff on the little emergency wheel with a 30 minute incoming warning.

    A nice cup of tea-20240218_052416-jpg

So I jumped in to get a feel for if a Toyota Yaris could be my next ride.

^ Miss South Sudan should be wary of strange men.

I've never been in a Yaris, but in my experience any Toyota is a good ride and they just keep going and going, whatever the mileage.

^ epic car, i've got a 2015 1.2ltr G Thai model and have taken her everywhere. She even has a fucking sport mode, which, if on your own, has quite the little boost! Literally tackled flood damaged mountain roads and no damage to her suspension. Tyres go for 60K and I still haven't changed the brakes after 130K. Absolute beast of a car, so well made, I'm never getting rid of her. I am even paying someone monthly to drive her a bit and get her a car wash.... the cute little red rocket tart.

Back to tea. Trying to have a wee green tea every other night after dinner. Can't do it every night as it dries out my throat too much.

My mother first got a Yaris nearly 20 years ago as she got older, and has upgraded with them since. She was disappointed at first calling it a Noddy car. Think she had changed down from a VW Passat. The models now are sturdier and weightier I guess.
