I remember my parents always had loose leaf Typhoo and used a metal teapot. If it was my turn to do the washing up Id always get in trouble for washing the teapot in the washing up bowl as it made the tea taste soapy. You were only supposed to rinse it out.

I notice that these days my mum uses teabags... that would never have been considered 40 years ago.

Tea with toast is great... but I've never considered it with fish and chips.

Tea is a superior beverage to coffee- but most, including myself, are just too damn lazy to make it correctly. I drink way more coffee.

Coffee is a far superior drink and genuinely is one of life's little pleasures; something to look forward to of a morning when you're grinding the beans and savouring the aroma before enjoying your reward for going that little yard extra.

Tea is just something you do to pass the time.

    Couldnae agree more.

That freshly made morning coffee comes second to only a fresh morning root.

The Minx brought over some 'Blue Tea' this evening.

    A nice cup of tea-img_20210412_230530-jpg

I was very curious to try this strange Chinese delicacy but after some discussion it turned out that she had got her colours mixed up (english language is not her forte) and it is in fact green tea.

Later on she asked if she could borrow a t-shirt after her shower and I said to help herself.

She then appeared wearing the t-shirt I had hastily thrown in the cupboard while doing a lightning tidy up when she texted that she was coming over.

Unfortunately this was the t-shirt I had used as a jizz-rag the previous night on Pornhub.

I was not sure what to say so after some mulling I ended up saying nothing.

She is now deep in the land of nod and happily dreaming of rainbow unicorns wrapped in her dried jizz-soaked t-shirt.

Señorita Surabaya made me a cup of tea using tap water from the rainwater tank. (I normally use bottle water for cooking and drinking but she had forgotten in the long months of our estrangement)

Hmmmm, I thought it had a pungent bouquet, although I did drink it all...

Due to the structural failure rate (thanks to Looper) I dunk with Tim Tams. If one need to ask what a Tim Tam is I will assume you are a low end chap (probably from Pattaya, or even worse, some ghastly Islamic country) and as such, undeserving of a reply. Not that one is snobbish as one already is forced to tolerate a few of the low end on TD. For once at least there is a civilised thread, where more of the refined TD gentry may discuss the finer thing in life.

Readily available in Pattaya in about 5 different varieties. One has simply not lived till biting both ends off one and using it as a straw to drink coffee

^I could not tell just from the taste of the tea but carcass retrieval (using a laundry basket as a landing net) proved the culprit to be a possum.

I liked the way he was floating there so still, staring silently down into the abyss. He looked so peaceful. It felt almost spiritual.

I am currently defleshing his skull via the process of maceration for display and posterity.

I was suspicious of the what looked like a change in packaging on my new box of Barry's

So I dug the old box out of the rubbish to compare.

    A nice cup of tea-img_20220108_000037-jpg

I thought I might have been conned by Woolworths with some Chinese knock-off fake Irish tea

But my worries were ill founded and the first bag out of the new box knocked the socks off the last bag out of the old box.

The new stuff is epically good.

And as a bonus as i was putting the old box back in the rubbish I thought it didn't feel properly empty and hey presto a bonus pair of bags from the old box will let me do a side by side taste test for my next cuppa.

A couple of spreads and our current tea on offer.

Roasted brown rice tea which I didn't realise was just green tea mixed with roasted popped brown rice

    & for those interested:

'Hōjicha (焙じ茶, ほうじ茶) is a Japanese green tea. It is distinctive from other Japanese green teas because it is roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal. Roasted at 150° C to prevent oxidation and produce a light golden colour, as opposed to other Japanese teas which are steamed.'

M&S Empress Grey - Earl Grey but with a lemon twist; all those years, Serge was right! A bit poncy but it is nice on a hot day.

    Good old Yorkshire tea

OP - never tried that Yorkshire proper strong but it looks good!

Always nice to have some sort of a sweet with tea. We mainly go for mint, ginger, carrot cake and dragon fruit seems to go well with tea.

Link for the roasted brown rice tea which I encourage everyone to try.

Not sure if it is available outside of Aussieland. Normal Yorkshire red is also available and I did a taste test and the Proper Strong is a tad stronger.

But this fresh box of Barry's is orgasmatastic. I wonder if it is just down to batch variability or a change in production.

PG Tips is a notch below Yorkshire but still a rock solid tea-bagging option.

Some new teas to try this evening.

    A nice cup of tea-img_20220130_003304-jpg

The Melbourne T2 has a hint of bergamot or something floral. I don't normally go for perfumed teas but this was quite subtle.

The Queen Victoria looks the part with its regal crown and is decent for an Aussie blend.

It doesn't look like it is even available in the UK! we have something called Gold which may be similar or of a more refined taste. Gold and red available in LOS.

Yes, I have found all Dilmah teas to be lacking in strength.

We had a crew change yesterday so I asked a couple of guys to bring me a box of Yorkshire Teabags over from the UK. We only have crappy Liptons onboard.

I asked two guys thinking surely one would forget, maybe one would test positive for Covid or maybe one of the airplanes wouldn't make it. You have to plan these things and build in some contingency.

Well, both of my couriers made it to the boat. I struck gold and was brought this monster bag of Yorkshire Teabags... I'm gonna take this one back home to Korat and so long as the wife stays off it this should last me a couple of years at least.

And I also received this normal sized box... I'm good for tea for the next couple of work trips as well!

Well done with the Yorkshire tea, I like that one.

The thing with this sort of tea is that it does fade with time. That could be one reason why Looper is rejoicing with his new box of tea, it is much fresher. A couple of years might be a bit hopeful in this climate. I keep mine in an airtight plastic box which I think helps a bit.

How is it superior.. black tea is just that, but I'd say green and white teas are better for you.

I usually drink a coffee in the morning and tea later in the day. I love all kinds of tea.. favorites include Chai, green with jasmine, Buddhas Belly (David's Tea), Earl Grey, and Orange Pekoe. Depends on my mood on which tea I drink. Sometimes I don't drink any, and i'll have a decaf instead. I use my keurig pod maker for both coffee and tea (hot water).

Shutree is bang on the sponduleys here.

I had noticed that my Barry's bad boys were not packing the same noticeable punch that had been unleashed when I first opened the box.

I put it down to my taste buds acclimatising, until I ran out and opened a new box and BAM... there it was again.

    A nice cup of tea-img_20220328_214050-jpg

I have now restrategised my Barry's buying into smaller boxes. More expensive but what price a perfect cup of tea?

    Is any price too much?
