but we don't pay double or triple for the capsules
Heree you go, don't say I don't do anything for you...
I've not enjoyed the 4 Starbucks capsules I've tried thusfar, but decided to try two more:
As it turns out, the mild Blonde Latte is the best mild latte I've tasted yet. Very nice. I haven't tried the Verona, but I hope it's better than the Starbucks Sumatra which only works for me in a blend...
Cycling should be banned!!!
I love when i find these nespresso machines in an office I am working in since the coffee tastes great and they are so convenient.
But I have to use 3 capsules to make one coffee so if they are 70c each then that is over 2 bucks to make yourself a coffee at home.
Here is my little coffee tree in my garden. Having mastered my new 15 bar proper coffee machine I am taking it to the OhOh level and will be roasting my little beans by hand shortly.
That is at the other end of the coffee convenience spectrum from nespresso
Blonde expresso? Betty that just sounds nasty
nice burger pic though, can your tell us more about it?
Tried the Orange Cake and the Italian biscuit from Nespresso that Betty recommended,
I have to say, not too impressed, and at 7 EUR each box, I find it a bit over the top, will pass next time, at that price that's 2 refill of 10 capsules wasted, 3 weeks worth of coffee
still need to try the Amerito cookies though,
The biscuits are better than can be found at most other places in Korea; I'm sure Europe has better options.
The double quarterpounder with cheese was certainly better than the Mega Mac I had the other week...
don't you have Japanese Patisserie like everywhere else in Asia?
this is the new trend in Paris, buying your French pastries at expensive Japanese shops
Sometimes, I go for a double whopper with bacon - quality that is.
A lot of boycott Japan sentiment and banners around at the moment, so no Japanese cake shops... Paris Baguette is shite, but Tour Le Jours has some nice stuff.
that burger looked really nice, do they have a lot burger place in SK?
Yes, many.
&, if you're fond of fried chicken then Korea is the place for you - best fried chicken in the world...
not really into fried chicken, but thanks for the thought
Nespresso Expresso Shot Test Extravaganza:
Decided, as I was pretty tired early this morning when I got up to take the dog for a walk, to take an espresso shot. Then, I thought: why not test all the shots I've got, one after the other, fair trial. I've kicked out the crap stuff long ago, so this is all decent.
Why not use my new sexy cups:
Which came in this mornings mega order along with coffee capsules, biscuits and chocolates...
Why not go two at a time, through the group of 7, comparing each with the other over a 10 minute trial of exactitude?
Let the trial of excellence begin...
Nespresso Kazaar:
Nice and strong smell; tasty; strong to the end; pleasant til the end. 9/10
Nespresso Darkaan:
Weaker smell; blandish taste; strong, but not as strong as the above; not pleasant after taste. 6.5/10
Starbucks Cafe Verona:
Weak, but pleasant smell; ok if non-descript taste (better than Darkaan); similar strength to the last one; average generally and after-taste. 7/10
Starbucks Sumatra:
Weak smell; no taste; not strong; average, at best, flavour with no noticeable after-taste. 6.5/10
Starbucks Expresso Roast:
Nice smell; not strong, but ok flavour; no particular after-taste. 7.5/10
Nespresso Ristretto:
A nice and quite strong smell; tasty; not so strong; nice after-taste. 8/10
Nespresso Master Region Columbia:
Similar to the above, not strong, but with really quite a pleasant after-taste.
So, there you have it:
Number 1: Kazaar - a proper espresso to start the morning.
= Number 2: Ristretto - a milder alternative if you just fancy something different to Kazaar from time to time.
= Number 2: Columbia - a nice after-taste and easy drinking espresso for a more gentle start to the morning.
Non of the others are worth considering, and I won't be buying any of them again.
Suffice to say, I did not need my mid afternoon latte today, and nobody, NOBODY, was getting in my way!!!

excellent job, betty
and yes, very nice set of coffee cups, but mine are nicer
OK, I know you've all been waiting for this for a long long time, but I've been busy.
It's finally here!!!
The Ultimate Nespresso Drinkoff:
Envivo Lungo
Quite a weak and unpleasant smell, tastes alright, not strong, bit bland and an unpleasant aftertaste: 6.5/10
Fortissio Lungo
No particular smell, but quite a pleasant taste, meh, quite an unpleasant aftertaste though = 6/10
Master Origin Colombia
Has a nice endearing, softish, smell, nice flavour too, not particularly strong, and a weak aftertaste = 7/10.
Starbucks Blonde
Weakish, but nice smell, nice smooth flavour, not strong, easy to drink and no aftertaste = 8/10
Starbucks Pike Place
Smells and tastes a bit stronger than the one above, pleasant but still pretty mild smell, not smooth but easy to drink, quite pleasant aftertaste if a bit meh overall = 7/10
Linzio Lungo
Mild but nice smell, again, mild but pleasant taste with some nice flavours to it and a nice aftertaste = 8.5/10
The Final Verdict!
The machine is great, easy to use and clean - great for a quick morning pick-me-up expresso, and I take a flask of coffee to work which saves me probably $10+ per day. I suspect the machine has paid for itself already, as I've not been to a cofffeeshop since I bout it and I used to spend around $74 per week at coffeeshops.
My little holder I got can hold 6 types, so I was hoping to find 3 morning expressos I like and 3 lattes I like. But, I've only found 4 I like so far, so I have lots of them in the draw and will rotate new expressos and lattes in the other slots, try to find something I like and have some variety too.
This is my ranking order:
Expresso no.1 - Kazaar
Expresso no.2 - Ristretto
Expresso no.3 - still looking...
Latte/Lungo no.1
Latte/Lungo no.2 - Starbucks Blonde
Latte/Lungo no.3 - still looking...
If you know any good capsules, please let me know and I'll give 'em a go.
believe me, none are better, it has been like that since 2002
just ordered another 100 refill, cheaper than supermarket coffee
Couple of benders. Buy a proper fakkin machine and use real beans
real beans? from Starbucks?
^^ hard work, and doubt it tastes any better...
I had one of those capsule jobs in my hotel room in bkk.
Drank one cup of coffee from it
It was fine. Rather nice to have it as an option in your room. A lot of horrible fiddly plastic for one cup of coffee but hey ho.
I have an electric grinder here in the ME, but when I'm home I actually like the process of grinding beans manually on my veranda and then brewing coffee while the cat carries out her HIT exercise programme, sprinting around like a nutter on the lawn.
Same with tea. Warm the pot, add Twinings English breakfast etc.
What's the hurry?
My old man goes through various coffee phases and techniques, and he was raving about his new machine and pods/capsules when I was last home. Drinkable, but nowt to get excited about apart from convenience, perhaps.
My most recent experiences have been in US hotel rooms though. Dear God, no.
