the most depressing aspect about kfc is not the actual food they serve which unsurprisingly is greasy, unappetising and of the lowest quality, but the dumb customers who stupidly feed their badly behaved and borderline diabetic offspring this putrid shite.

its similar to macdonalds in the uk where the outlets are invariably filled with ignorant self destructive lower end dross and their hyperactive children as they stuff their ugly blotchy faces full of the fat, sugar and salt that will take them bloated and decaying to their early graves.

how has it come to this.

The thing I don't understand is chicken pieces are not difficult to cook.

I also know most KFC employees are not gourmet chefs but how the fuck do they get the chicken so greasy.

And I am sure when the Colonel launched his product it had no resemblance to the utter shit KFC produce today.

The company needs to look at their cooking process and fix the obvious problems.

One of Favs Norton. Way cheaper and far better then greasy KFC.

Never ate KFC in the states, won't eat it here most likely. Way too much better food to eat around here.

Poor maintenance of the equipment maybe...temps not where they should be.

Norton's chicken looks much better anyway. Here there's rotisserie chickens available everywhere. Or DIY on a grill.

    Just put a KFC out.

    High fat, unhealthy comfort food.

My daughter wanted 6 of the hot wings, so I ordered 9 of those, 2 coleslaw, 2 mashed potatoes and a bucket of chicken.

Sat back and watched the wife & son who 'weren't hungry' demolish most of it.

Not sure why anyone would choose to eat at KFC - the cheapest and nastiest of the fast food chains - when Thai fried chicken/grilled chicken, available on the street pretty much anywhere for a pittance, pisses all over their soggy, greasy offerings.

    Rank stuff.

Thai solar chicken a hot hit

Phetchaburi: -Not many chefs don a welding mask before they enter the kitchen, but Sila Sutharat prefers to cook his chicken sunny side up.

Two hours south of Bangkok this 60-year-old roadside vendor has found an ingenious way to offer his customers something a little different by harnessing the power of the sun.

Using a large wall of nearly 1,000 moveable mirrors -- a device he designed and built himself -- he focuses the sun´s rays onto a row of marinated chickens, sizzling away under the intense heat.

His unusual culinary methods raised a few eyebrows when he first hit upon the idea.

"They said that I´d gone mad, that cooking chicken like this was impossible," he told AFP next to his stall, the row of sun-drenched chickens behind him too bright to look at for any length of time.

"After a long time passed by, they´d say: ´Actually, you could do it´," he added.

That´s because the solar reflector generates intense heat, easily enough to match an oven, with a sunshine-baked chicken taking just twelve minutes to cook through.

For much of the last 20 years Sila grilled in relative obscurity for a fairly local crowd.

But after videos of his solar-cooker went viral online, people from across Thailand have flocked to his stall in Phetchaburi province.

    Daylight saving

Sila says the idea came to him in 1997 when he was struck by the heat reflecting off a passing bus.

"I thought, with this heat reflecting from the window from the sun, I could possibly change it into energy," he said.

Sila says that compared to a traditional charcoal grill -- which he used before his solar epiphany -- his meat is more tender and evenly-cooked.

And given Thailand´s sweltering tropical climate, the sun is a free, clean and totally sustainable energy source.

"At the time, energy such as petrol and gas was becoming more expensive and suppliers were also running out of wood to sell," he recalled.

"I thought if I used solar energy, I could save a lot. And it also decreases pollution."

Sila and his wife Pansri now cook around 40 chickens -- as well as several sides of pork -- each day.

"We´ve been eating here for a long time," said regular patron Thanyarat Kaewpaleuk, who was tucking into lunch with her husband.

"It´s delicious. His chicken is fatty, it´s not burned and doesn´t smell like a charcoal grill, which you can smell on the meat."

Not really a fan myself, although Reachy reckons it's finger licking good.
    Snapped tucking in last week...

    Nope.

Scrapings/Scraps described below and pea wet is the juice off the mushy peas that they skim off the top.

Funnily enough the process has changed little.
    It's pressure cooked in oil.
Or maybe they cut corners in Thailand.

I suspect they just put too many pieces in whatever contraption they cook them in.

    EDIT

Re the Chicken Burgers, i've had two and both were utterly inedible. not breast meat but some stringy thigh meat, hopefully it was chicken

One thing I can offer in comparison, the quality of the chicken here is vastly different then the states from what I have seen of people eating it. Of course the one in the states are likely heavily impregnated with growth hormones making them fat and plump. I suspect they source a different cooking oil here and never change it as well.

What I find extremely funny, is that they ship over these US fast food shithole chains and then they do not sell the same food, they add some other sauces, different foods. I mean what the hell is the point. If people want to enjoy the chain food, then the menu should be exactly the same. The only one that seems even close is Sizzler. I have never eaten anything there but the salad bar but all the other stuff looks the same.

    Profit for the parent company.

I think there are two factors that drive them. 1) Tastes vary around the world so they tweak or change things to more suit the local tastes. 2) Costs. They source produce locally to reduce costs.
