HW, AO...I ain't ever had luck with getting crispy potatoes in an oven.
I parboil the spuds, maybe 10 minutes, a lot depends on the type of spud. Drain them, hold the lid and give the pan a shake. If you got the right spuds and boiled for the right length of time the spuds will be just a little bruised and flaking on the outside. Get it wrong and you have mash.

Transfer the spuds to a roasting tray, baste with hot fat , oil will probably do, and roast away. That flaky surface turns out a lovely crispy spud.

As photos of curry go, that actually looks quite good.

Gotta love that retro-futuristic Flash Gordon design from the golden age of intercontinental nuclear warfare.

No slouch at a paint-stripping Mach 2 either.

Remove from plastic tray and place in oven.

Remove from oven 55 minutes later and serve with a spoon.

Eat direct from foil tray to avoid washing up.

    ^ You can't microwave them?

I would call something as fancy as an oven baked lasagne a 'Dinner' rather than 'Blokes cooking'!

And is that a submarine over by that jug thingy on the left?

    Reasons against microwaving would be

    1. It is in an aluminium foil tray
    2. I think it is not actually cooked as purchased. I think the 55 minutes in the oven is to actually cook it, not just heat it up.

    ^^^Choice tucker Mr Worx

New bloke-batch of Indian curry knocked up this evening for a week and half of top nosh and will have me smelling like the char-wallah from It Aint Half Hot Mum by Christmas day

    The Blokes' Cookery Thread-img_20201209_215225-jpg

This batch is a more radiant tandoori orange colour since I did not add turmeric this time. I also used out of date cream that had been abandoned in the freezer for months. It smelled fine but was a bit curdly looking which has oddly been an improvement since regular cream tends to neutralize the edge of the spices and vinegar a bit. The curdly cream has left the curry with a tangy sharp edge. Might switch to coconut cream instead of double cream for the next batch.

Tips for rejuvenating a lasagne remnant...

Sprinkle of black pepper and Italian herbs

    Sprinkle of grated cheddar

Oven bake for 30 minutes then eat straight from the tray again, thus avoiding 2 washing ups with the assistance of a single tray

Based on your past posts I assume that is a ready-made meal? I am considering doing a scratch lasagna and could use one of those trays.

Bit of an odd shape to fry so I sliced this odd looking thing length ways.

I was not sure how to tell when one of these fellas is burnt since it starts of black.

    The Blokes' Cookery Thread-img_20201212_043202-jpg

I thought they needed to be cooked like sausages so I erred on the side of caution and gave it a decent fry.

Not the most photogenic dish but quite yummy.

    The Blokes' Cookery Thread-img_20201212_044044-jpg

I then googled it and apparently they are already cooked during production so you are only really heating it up when you fry it.

Oh well I will know next time although I just noticed in the photo that it is 10 days out of date so the long fry was probably fortunate.

It is the bloke's cooking thread, things like expiry dates are scoffed at here. I would be curious as to why the store didn't remove the out of date product from their shelf.

because it wasn't out-of-date when Looper bought it so they didn't have it in their possession when it became out-of-date..
