Depends on the food. And how much it's been improved upon in the de-authenticizing process.

So may I presume that Taco Bell has crap food and should be avoided by everyone apart from Septic Tefler's on a bum-float budget?

I think you have summarised very well but we will wait out Toms review before final judgement.

Got this at Inchon. It was crap. Well over priced and bland as hell. Ate 1/4 of one and pitched the other. Next time I'll go for the rotten cabbage and seaweed like most of the other muthers. I tried telling the girl to eat what the locals eat. Pigs ears and rawhide were on the menu.

    The Eagle has landed

The much-hyped Tex-Mex fast-food chain from the U.S. throws open its doors to Bangkokians.

Taco Bell, the six-decade-old Tex-Mex fast-food chain from the U.S., is expected to open to lengthy queues at Chid Lom’s MercuryVille mall on Jan 24.

With a ground-floor location that spills out onto Phloen Chit Road, the debut Bangkok branch boasts a bright open kitchen, bench seating and a colorful wall mural depicting a taco riding on top of a tuk tuk (for real).

As for the food, you’re mostly getting the same items that typically fill the menu back in the U.S. (no chalupas, though—boo!).

Tuck into Taco Bell favorites like the classic Crunchy Taco (B69) filled with beef, lettuce and cheese, or the Crunchwrap Supreme (B119), a grilled flour tortilla folded into a hexagon filled with seasoned ground beef, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and lettuce.

There are also a few new items said to be adapted to the Thai palate, like the Kickin’ Chicken Tacos (B158), featuring crisp fried chicken with spicy sauce, salsa and cheese, all wrapped in a flour tortilla.

Wash your meal down with the slushy-like Mango Madness (B30) or an ice-cold Chang beer (B99). (Yes, they serve beer.)

First opened by Glen Bell in 1962 in Downey, California, Taco Bell is known for its cheap tacos, quesadillas and nachos, and now has about 7,000 franchises across the U.S.

The chain has also forged a name for its late opening hours, with some branches operating 24/7. Here in Bangkok, however, the first branch sticks with the fairly standard mall opening hours of 10am-10pm.

    and they serve beer

...stopped by around noon today...hundreds of crazed folks desperate for...tacos? A friendly "helper" told me the wait for "food" was at least 2 hours...that's 2 hours of standing out in the air (and disco noise) pollution holding a purple party balloon...the Thai-Chinese franchisees know exactly how to bring out the Thainess...

...the same heaving crowds turned up for long waits at Krispy Kreme donuts, some Singaporean popcorn company, Pablo cheese tarts, Jap cream cakes, etc...not much else to do, I guess: selfies, chatting, snacking...repeat...

So I found out later that day I posted that it was the "Grand Kickoff Gala Extraordinaire" deal where i guess a few weeks early thousands of Thai's filled out forms to go in a big drum and your name was pulled out and you got notified you could come to an exclusive private opening of the dump. FFS....And what the Fuk is Tex Mex food? Taco Bell is not Tex Mex. It is trays of pre made slop that they toss into preformed Taco shells. The other part is burrito's. Tex Mex restaurants are places like "Chevy's", "El Toritos" etc.

Anyway, glad another failing US fast food chain has found its way to Thailand. It will grow some legs here for awhile as the novelty will be big. Good business move.

I will stick with making my Mexican food at home.

Yep. I noticed a lot of Fatty Thais and Caucasian folk around the place. Only hotty was the brain dead Thai model in 8" high heels handing out cans of coke with purple and white balloons along with the Taco Bell menu.

Shiit, Are you kidding me. I am 45 minutes from CM if I wanna go, In BKK it takes 45 minutes to go 3 blocks. I was just there enjoying that MCF of traffic.

Easier to stay home and relax with better food....

That's gonna be well scoffable after 6 pints of lager and a fist fight, to be honest.
