    Tsukiji Takewaka

...Our first meal in the Siam Icon (4th floor in the Rose dining area: you'll note SD couldn't do a thing with his hair)...we were expecting astronomical prices, but found menu items to be on a par with other Japanese restaurants that we frequent. Everything came all at once so here it is:Tsukiji Takewaka-s__6668361-jpgTsukiji Takewaka-s__6668363-jpgTsukiji Takewaka-s__6668367-jpgTsukiji Takewaka-s__6668364-jpgTsukiji Takewaka-s__6668365-jpgTsukiji Takewaka-s__6668371-jpg

The salmon and tuna sushi to start were well prepared and fresh-tasting; the larger prawn tempura and vegetable tempura featured a perfectly crispy batter with no oil drip presented. The last dish was the star: a salmon avocado roll drizzled in a light pesto sauce (a first for me). It was a fabulous flavor combo. We enjoyed a satisfying lunch and plan to return, if only for the salmon roll. B2100 with a large draft Asahi and green tea.

Lovely food and pix as usual

Oddly named since Tsukiji closed recently as I posted on another thread, used to be my go to destination in Tokyo for Blowfish

Is that a deep fried and battered stinging nettle leaf on the left?

I have been working in a customer office on and off for the past few weeks and these pixie style trousers and suits are still in fashion.

They are the ones where the trousers legs narrow down towards the ankle and are usually worn with pointed toe ankle boots making the wearer look like one santas elves.

I keep hoping that this utterly laughable style is going to have gone out of fashion by the time I venture back into officeland for a new project so my eyes do not have to be offended further.

People are going to be creased up looking at photos of themselves from the 2010s in future decades.

But it looks like this awful trouser style is actually making its way into shorts too by the looks of that fella

Disappointing. I was expecting a Jap AV star. I could eat one of those.

...back to Tsukiji to further explore their menu: the same salmon avocado roll with pesto as before because it's irresistible, endamame to start because they're perfect with the draft Asahi (me) and apple vinegar soda (SD), swordfish and cucumber roll with taro crunchies, and Hoke fish (same omega 3, much less mercury than salmon or tuna according to google)...satisfying lunch after which we waddled off to Ampersand ice cream for scoops of salted caramel and strawberry cheesecake...

An Excellent looking meal . . . not so sure about mixing pesto with delicate fish, but if you say it tastes magnificent then I'd give it a try

2nd pic a hint of check. I told myself i'd stop opening your reviews as i'd don't have time to get round even half of them with the time i have in BKK, unless i channel my inner Dill.
