    Pala (again)

...always up for their new menu items...SD tried the linguine with imported Italian mussels and chorizo while I had the orecchiette with broccoli and sausage in a light butter sauce: both very satisfying...B900 with tomato bruschetta and water (no alcohol day)...Pala (again)-pala2-jpgPala (again)-pala1-jpg

...dropped in again for a nice Italian lunch: tomato bruschetta (shared), 2 slices of pizza marinara, saltimboca and roast sea bass...efficiently served and delicious with 3 glasses of Montepulciano red and a ginger ale: B1,800...we're here about once a month...

Tom, no disrespect and not trying to cherry pick your photos, but that dish above, aesthetically, does nothing for me at all.

In the Bill of B1,800 ... how much was the wine?

...Pala makes no attempt at alta cucina: it serves a relatively simple and well-prepared variety of Italian dishes with a modest selection of wines at prices that suit us...that's why we return so often...you can do a lot worse in bkk (as far as Italian restaurants are concerned), but would be hard-pressed to do much better for the price...

...convenience and plain good cooking brought us to Pala again this weekend for SD's pasta fagioli fix and my perfectly cooked orecchiette and broccoli (as well as a tangy tomato bruschetta not pictured)...and 4 glasses of Montepulciano red: B1650...

...^^it's more of a thick soup...and utterly delicious with a sprinkle of Parmesan, a few drops of chili oil and accompanied by a slice or two of Pala's home-made bread...

I have a problem with low value restaurants, it could have been 50 THB for the whole meal, I would still feel the same

Do you like to be ripped off ? and believe me I have been ripped off in plenty of those restaurants
