Well Tom keep him on his toes. A subtle line about getting an email/chat from a past acquaintance after gazing absentmindedly into the middle distance...

    EDIT

Congrats for 12 years lets hope for many more

Food looked very nice and tasty to me. I think we'll be paying a visit if time allows a trip to BKK.

...trying out new menu items at Pala today (tuna medium rare and cod)...both were excellent, but the cod in a Mediterranean sauce on a bed of spinach (sauce: tomatoes, olives, capers, evoo and garlic) deserves a special mention..

Tom Tuna looks good. Personally, a delicate white fish like cod for me should just come as is, perhaps a little butter & pepper.

Actually Tom i do, the only real time i'll countenance defiling a cold water white fish with sauces is Salt Cod. Just my preference not a criticism of the food you've posted.

Yep, love it. Had a black family two doors down that came from Jamaica, great family and we'd often invite them to tea and vicky versa; that dish and jerk, rice and peas et al often featured. First time they toned down the scotch bonnet on the jerk until they found out my Mum had been knocking out pokey curries since the 60's; felt the burn after that.

I'm sold on Pala and i'll try to get there next time, Centun Wurl too.

You racist fuck and your fried chicken..
What did they cook for you?

That tuna looks good Tom. I have a Jamaican chef mate who always mentions akee and satfish, never mentions cod though, even though he is in UK.
Will have to try it, cheers

How would you define a proper restaurant?

    God that looks good!
It reminds me of when I was a kid, (62 now) we used to go out of Oyster Bay , on the north shore of Long Island in the USA on his boat, We would go by the rocks and collect buckets of Mussels (the water was crystal clear then ) . He would cook them in a big Pot with a light fresh tomato sauce, garlic and olive oil, and then serve over pasta. Yam!!!
Thank you for sharing , shure brings back happy memories.

So a proper restaurant can't peacefully coexist within the confines of a mall?

One that comes to my mind is Greyhound Cafe, that's located in the mall I work at on the weekends. I would consider it a proper restaurant, though I consider Burger Bros a proper restaurant.

    We all differ...
But from what I've garnered from Tom's magnificent reviews: the protocol is thus-

1...There will be a nice ambience
2...The starter will cost more than your average Thai's weekly wage
3...The menu will be exclusively in Italian with long foreign words
4...The basil won't be the Thai vinegary kind that Luigi grows on his windowbox and it will be plentiful, especially on Pizza
5...There will be chequed shirts in close poximity
6...The waiter will have a cute ass
7...The Multipiciciciano will be at the very least passable if Heineken , Asahi and Peroni are absent from the apperatif menu
    8...It won't be on Eatigo

To and from work I generally spend a couple of days in Bangkok to see the bright lights before heading back to my Isaan backwater. Depending on company, I've got in the habit of eating lunch at 'Indulge' which I think must be very close to your Pala place. Its part of the Sukhumvit Suites hotel. They do 'fusion' food I believe its called, and the lamb shank massaman, amongst other dishes, is great.
