...located on the ground floor of Emquartier...We started with foie gras bruschetta (served chilled) and mozzarella ball caprese with pesto drippings: my first experience with cold foie gras: not bad with dried blueberries for sweetness. The caprese was...well...caprese (though the mozzarella balls were nice). We continued with my all-time favorite pasta: linguine con vongole and an arugula/mushroom/sausage pizza. The former needed a bit more garlic-flavored olive oil and additional chopped parsley to increase flavor; the latter can be found at any of a number of Italian pizzerias in bkk (tasty, but a tad dry). The desserts stood out: a sort of lemon meringue tart (in which grated lemon peel made all the difference) and a chocolate gelato (good, but I've had better locally). With 3 glasses of a drinkable Montepulciano and water: B4,200.
Oddly for an Italian restaurant in bkk, the head waiter, two of the waitstaff, and the chef were French (on loan from Cocotte, I assume). Also, everything, starters and mains, came to the table at the same time: I think the foreigners have definitely adjusted to their clientele's preferences. The totally non-threatening chili oil looked like a packet of Kool-Aid had been mixed in. A good crowd of hungry diners...I doubt we'll come again as we can enjoy much the same fare at more convenient Peppino's (Central Embassy).
