While I like his books and TV shows, his restaurants are always getting slated here in the UK hence never had the desire to enter one. Grossly overpriced seemingly being the main complaint.

seafood linguine (served to other diners steaming so at least it looked freshly prepared)
any of the other antipasti on offer
a whole baked local fish (I don't think sea bass) with tomatoes, olives and other stuff
the seafood salad a pair of Japs were enjoying at the next table
more of that delicious Montepulciano

Yeah, I can see.

As mentioned, JO has been scaling back and relaunching restaurants for years now because of initial failures.

I suppose he's calculating that the more far flung his places are the more likely it is that his celebrity status will pull people in...if the food itself cannot.

Or it could be true as they claim that it's down to BREXIT.

I ain't the biggest fan of Jamie Oliver tbh, and if I was in the market for Italian foid I'd much prefer to find a local family owned Italian restaurant where the focus is on quality and the chefs know their shit.

Jamie's Italian is just gonna employ min wage cooks with no knowledge or passion.

My preference would have been to go to one of the many Italian restaurants around Thong Lor/Ekkamai, but the other half wanted to try Jamie's out.

It was ok. I expected it to be quite poncy, but the atmosphere was fine and the food was decent enough.

As above, it was fine. The staff were quite friendly and attentive and although the portions look quite small, they were fair sizes at what I would call reasonable prices for the centre of Bangkok.

I don't recall the menu being that extensive (3 or 4 pizzas to choose from), but there's enough to satisfy most. One slight disappointment was the absence of a cheese selection; it was probably the first Italian restaurant I've been to that didn't offer a nice bit of stinky blue at the end.

For $100 USD, the food would have to be perfect for me. I don't spend that kind of money even in America. If it can't be served cheaper than USA, it ain't worth buying in Thailand.

been to the one in hk...nothing special. would not go to such a pricey chain in thailand. youre bound to be disappointed by the lack of skills.
