My top 5 Thai foods

ONE

In the morning I love semi spicy pad-kapow with 2 fried eggs, Thais are experts at getting eggs just right be they boiled or fried, though when attempting to include the latter in an English breakfast they fail abysmally.

TWO

I also love to eat barbequed chicken and sticky rice with that sauce that tastes like it is made with plum jam and chillis.

THREE

I recently introduced my equally fussy Flippo bird to Bummy-Moo-Dang which is like this watery soup with this like spinach stuff and thinly sliced red pork and noodles. I like to hold the corriander (because it tastes of Channel No.5) and instead add spoonfuls of pickled green chilli rings from the table from the jar on top of it, then a sprinkle of ground peanuts and insist on a couple of those delicious triangular crispy deep fried whassnames that they give you with it if you are lucky.

This is a bugger to take away but once you have most of the soup in a bowl you can settle down and enjoy Al Jazeera or AXN with a smile on your face and noodles hanging from your chin.

I love the old TYG but it varies from place to place (Tom Yum Goong) and though it may not be the healthiest way, I like it in 7-Eleven pot noodle form.

FIVE

I don't know the name but it's ripened mango with sweet sticky rice and hot coconut milk and I call it 'Special Tippy-tippy' because I don't know the name which I already said.

Thai food is crap.

I eat a lot of it, but it will never compare to good old fashioned western food for me.

This is going to be a bit of a struggle to name my top 5 Thai dishes, I mean Thai food is probably about number 7 of different countries foods that I like.

Laab has to be number 1, although that maybe a Laos dish.
Yam, the spicey Thai salad with bits of dead animal is number 2.
Pad Kappow dead animal with basil and chilli.
Now comes to the hard part, there aint any other Thai dish I would be willing to eat 2 days in a row, things like Indian currys and kebabs I will willingly eat 5 days in a row, I mean fried rice is probably on par with a portion of chips and about as interesting taste wise, Chinese based foods I have never been interested in, ie I would only eat Chinese in the UK if that was the general consensous on where to eat, I would never choose to goto a Chinese restaurant personally.

It's hard to tell what the food is. Asking is not much help. It don't do much for me but make me want ice cream and hot dogs.
But my favorites are:
1- The crispy triangles on top of noodles w/ a spot of sugar and red hot peppers. They are fried wantons.
2- Chinese ice cream.
3- Chinese omlette. That's 2 fried eggs with some kind of sliced animal and a spot of chili sauce.
4- Ka na, the spinach like stuff.
5-Shrimp
I think these are all Chinese though. Stick with rainbow pops they don't have all that corn inside.

1. Chicken Penang Curry (nearly Thai)
2. Omelette stuffed with minced pork
3. Stir fried chicken with sweet chillies (with an egg on it of course)
4. Chicken red curry
5. BBQ chicken

That was a struggle.

Moo or Neua Ded Diow Ping with sticky rice
Pla Duk Foo

Kao Pad Moo - rice with the double boiled pork and an egg, just great with chilli and garlic

Kao neow Ma-muang - sticky rice with mango - luverly jubberly - but fattening so dont eat too much

Moo ping, kao neow, kai yang, pla dook and som tum - BBQ pork, chicken, sticky rice, catfish and pappaya salad - great lunch, cheap as chips (and quality prolly not that great either, basically wot all the issan construction workers eat on a daily basis from the mobile food carts

Tom Kha Gai - Chicken coconut soup - love it! better than tom yum gung any day of the week.

Kao pad talay or kao pad gung - fried rice with seafood or fried rice with prawns. good for lunch or breakfast. eat with a fried egg and plenty of chilli and fish sauce.

Pad see-uw - noodles of any sort are great, but i love these big fat ones. plenty of dried chilli plus the vinegar style sauce.

and of course Phet Yang - fried duck - yummy yummy.

oh and dont forget Tod mung goong - fried prawn cakes - these are my son's favourite.

and i've forgotten the name but the collection of leaves and small vegetables and chillies that you put together yourself......

oh and i also love steamed crabs...

i suppose thats more than 5 then aint it....

and Fuk Soup with pork - the chunky bits with plenty of cartilage and chewy bone in it - iFuk is a type of vegetable bit like a cucumber.

I do notice,that most of the people that live in the south do not rate khao Soi or Gang hanglay.This is obviously because they are pooves.
