    What goes into McDonalds Fries?

Potato. Oil. Salt. These three ingredients should be all it takes to make a French fry, right? Even the salt's (almost) optional. Well, no. Not if you're McDonald's in the US which uses a whopping 19 ingredients to make its "World Famous Fries". The fries sold at Macca's Australian stores, meanwhile, contain just four main ingredients.
In a video released last week on the McDonald's YouTube channel, Grant Imahara, of Mythbusters fame, explains how McDonald's chips in the US contain a bunch of other ingredients besides spuds, oil, and sodium. There's citric acid, dextrose (a type of sugar used to achieve the fries' uniform golden colour), corn oil, something called "natural beef flavour", hydrolyzed wheat, hydrolyzed milk, and many other items with a headache-inducing amount of syllables.
Ingredients like hydrolyzed wheat ensure the fries have a consistent taste everywhere, every time, according to the video.

McDonald's Australia customers don't need to worry about consuming a laboratory of flavour enhancers when scoffing errant fries from the bottom of a takeaway bag, though. Macca's Australia fries contain potato, canola oil, dextrose and mineral salt. There may be traces of sulphites (less than 10 milligrams per kilogram).
Golden Arches fries in Australia are cooked in a canola oil blend of containing canola oil, high oleic canola oil, sunflower oil, and a small amount of palm oil.
Palm oil production has attracted global criticism for damage done to Indonesian rainforests, the natural habitat of orangutans.
A spokesperson for McDonald's says all canola oil blend distributed to its Australian stores will be 100 per cent palm oil-free from February 1, 2015.

I am more concerned about Thai outlets leaving highly spiced flavourings on anything used to cook Thai dishes. The staff just can't be arsed to clean grills and friers after cooking Spicy Thai alternate dishes.

Palm oil is not so bad. It's why Thai policemen are so skinny. Deep fried chicken head for breakfast. Western fat Fucks could learn a thing or two.

    Close, but not quite.

    They're not 'their' or 'there'.

QuIte right. Why would anybody live in a country where they can't eat the food? Weird. If you want them to make something bland and different for you then pay them more. Would you go into McDonald's and demand snail feiulletes on asparagus foam?

Potatoes contain beta-D-Glucopyranoside, (3beta)-solanid-5-en-3-yl O-6-deoxy-alpha-L-mannopyranosyl-(1-2)-O-(6-deoxy-alpha-L-mannopyranosyl-(1-4))!!!!!!! Beware!!!!!! Doooooom!!! Etc. Of course, rather than getting all freaked out by big scary sounding words people could just learn what they mean. What's so great about being a paranoid ignoramus? If you're going to be paranoid at least put some effort into understanding what you're worrying about.

I never eat fast food shit after my bent and twisted mate told me this story.

When he was a teenager he scored a job at Kentucky Fried Chicken doing night shift.

There was a sick fuk working there who would wait till all the drunks starting coming in after the pubs closed and would piss in the gravy.

I was quite concerned at the time as I loved that gravy but found it quite amusing after a few bongs.

    Funny that innit.

This doesn't apply to the vegetables but does apply to the meat. The most disturbing "non-main" ingredient in fast-food beef is shit, this is a direct consequence of the changes in regulations governing hygiene and work-safety in meat-packing plants over the last 20 years and is a direct cause in the massive increase in E.Coli and Campylobacter infections. Both bacteria are found in faeces and the reason both bacteria are found in processed and fast food is because processed and fast food are contaminated with shit. Fast food makes you sick not because it's full of scary-sounding chemicals, it makes you sick because shit is mixed in with the meat.

You are quite mad, aren't you?

Carcasses delivered from slaughter houses are certified and inspected before delivery is accepted by food processing factories, either owned or contracted by the end use supplier. Faeces is not a product recognized by any producer as an ingredient in the food chain and as such is not incorporated in the slaughter and rendition of animals. McD and other quality suppliers operate to the highest standards and expect the same from their suppliers - to win such contracts is highly prized within the industry and most, if not all, adhere to the policies demanded of them.

No, the problem with US beef is the hormone addition to the rearing process which prevails in the States and is why US beef imports are banned in the EU.

    Boring alert !!

French fries are not French in origin.

French fries or chips as we Anglo saxons call them originated in Belgium.
The French bit was a miss translation, the original word was frecht ( sliced )

Sad I admit but we are moving to Belgium next month and I came across this recently.

I apologise for being a nerd
