Poll: use it or bin it?

I have a major issue here, and I need some help.

I bought some nice custard from LuLu, opened it and ate about half 3 or 4 days ago (can't remember eggsackery). I'd quite like to eat it either tonight or tomorrow, but I remember my gran telling me, all those years ago, to throw custard away after 24 hours in the fridge. Here it is:

The plan of action, if TD members support it, is to lash it over these (then microwave until piping):

But, I'm worried that the custard is too old and will make me sick. Please use your culinary knowledge to vote.

    I have a backup plan.

Betty your gram most likely made her custard from scratch, hence the 24 hour rule.
Chop a couple of bananas and enjoy.
Will try and get this thread above the 100 post mark, without multinicking.

I very much appreciate your support, but was aiming for the 100 page mark - Fluke is onto 60ish pages because he told somebody at the wat to stand for the national anthem; I think this thread has much more potential.

Bananas is quite an idea. Bananas, brownnies and custard? Should I add some the the mashmellow stuff I have? Doesn't really go with custard does it. BTW, KT, I feel really fat after a week of double cream hot chocolates every night - that's your fault!

As long as it looks and smells OK, eat it. It'll be fine.

Fresh custard doesn't last long, but the modern stuff, in a box, has stuff in it to keep it going. If it has separated, or has grey blobs floating on the top, bin it. If not, pretend you are camping and just eat it.

I think there might be a few signs between good to eat and grey blobs floating...

I have one portion left for tonight. I will again use the smell test.

It does seem that this custard, unlike homemade custard, lasts a lot longer; must be full of E numbers.

Took 16 posts before my Mongolian hat was mentioned. Sometimes when I'm particularly pissed orf with the A-rabs and their religious ways, I like to wear that at work all day - nobody says anything, they all wear hats/caps/towels. I obviously link the idea to the slaughter of the last caliph, gives me some pleasure.

I bought a litre of whipping cream a few months ago for something I was cooking, noticed the half used bottle in the back of my fridge the other and out of curiosity I gave it a sniff and it smelt fine so I left it in there.

As long as it's been in the fridge it should be fine.
