I've got to try the beet thing the Aussies rave about. Must be something to it. Are they pickled beets? I hate beets but maybe they are magically transformed somehow when they are put on a burger.
I tried Carla Jr when it opened, pretty good burger !
Sure, but I don't think the concept of a hangover is totally alien to a lot of TDers..Originally Posted by Boon Mee
Maybe setting one up in Patong at 3am when the USN are in town or one opposite TexPat's house would be a good earner! Tex has to wean himself back onto solid food sometimes right?
I (reluctantly) tried a Aussie style with beetroot as I'm not the biggest fan of them either. It was nice, not particularly beetrooty but good and tangy with some sweetness, much like a regular dill pickle.Originally Posted by Humbert

Aussie burgers are tasty enuff, but a sloppy bloody mess to eat- even the patty falls apart on you, and beetroot and egg make for a nice mess down yer shirt. Amerkins set the standard when it comes to burgers. The best I've had are from good roadhouses, not chains.
Sabang hit the nail on the head.
Something like this with one as shown or two patties.
Thats a quite big um.
Friendly service, clean, good location overlooking the beach at soi 9, and no comparison with the sawdust and paste at BK and McD. SuperStar combo fills up nicely. Tissue dispenser and cruets on the table and choice of the popular soda and ice tea with free refills makes for a more civilised version of the big chains. Wifey likes it too, and they don't mind us nicking those red straws for the kid to play with.
Been there several times already with family and friends but mostly alone, beats catch n kill. Heading for saturation, thinking of a couple days off except that weekend is on and we usually go shop-ping at Central so probably not.
Thanks for the heads up.
From the Business Insider website...
"Meetings at fast food chain Carl's Jr's start with the Pledge Of Allegiance and a prayer.
Carl Karcher, who founded the company, was a committed Catholic who funded Catholic charities, and started a tradition of saying the Pledge of Allegiance and having a prayer before meetings that persists to this day, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.
The company's current CEO, Andy Puzder, was a close friend of the deceased Karcher, and shares the same religious convictions according to the Orange County Register."

I wonder if they have some sort of routine that is based on Buddhism since they are in Thailand. Many chain restaurants seem to have gatherings of the employees for a a little talk and prep rally prior to letting people in. I noticed there was one at the Sizzler in Ubon the other day and I've seen them at KFC and MK.
Yes I know, bloody Catholics, shouldn't be allowed to open fast food joints, probably have their staff praying between customers!
