    Seeds

Hi everyone and I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this pandemic.

I've been back in Hawaii for about 10 months now. My family and I are doing OK but OMG the food prices here are wicked high as well as housing.

My Thai wife can't get certain herbs and other things so she can make her Thai food. If anyone can help with Pak chee seeds or other kinds it would be great. Please pm me if you can help.

All the best and stay safe,

    Eli

Hawaii has pretty strict regulations as to what plant materials can, and cannot be imported, and which require permits and inspection.

There can be quite hefty fines, so I would check carefully before e.g. getting someone to post seed to you.

    They are.

Tropical Gardener answer: Yes, actually three different plants have a similar flavor profile to cilantro. All are easy to grow here and seeds are available through online sources and eventually can be found at the Community Seed Library at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.

Remembering there are a few variety of coriander.
Chances are, the type that's grown/available in Hawaii is the hybrid soapy-tasting Western Hemisphere type.

SE/South Asian type [where it's native] is a completely different bird.
Perhaps that's what Eli missus might be referring to.

For those coriander snobs out there.

I’d guess you can go to the spice rack at the local grocery and buy whole coriander seed. Sprout those.

University of Hawaii has home seed packets for $1.50 each of some of the stuff your wife would need.

If I were in Thailand, I’d send you some stuff. Unfortunately, I am not there.

Thanks to all helpful messages and I'll just ignore the stupid comments. Yes, this is a Thai forum and that's why I posted on here.
