    Termites on living trees

Does anyone have a remedy for ridding termites from live trees. We have several trees on our property that have termites working their way up the trunk eating up the bark and probably putting a real hurting on the trees.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you poke a twig in and out of their front door they will attack the twig and you can pull them out and eat them

They seem to like our bigger mangoes. i usually trace their shallow tunnel leading to the tree and pour boiling water along it and as mentioned wipe them and their soil covers off the trunks. Unless you use chemicals which i don't like to, its down to vigilance - rinse and repeat.

How do I get rid of termites naturally? While a liquid termiticide may be your best bet to get rid of termites, other natural methods include boric acid, nematodes, salt, or vinegar. If natural methods do not work, you should consider store-bought termiticides.
Best I could come up with.
As I said just brush off the cover they build on the outside of the tree and they go away.

Fresh straight lemon juice - guaranteed.
...and leaves a long lasting residue that repels the next horde.

Your best friend in this circumstance is a good quality military grade Flamethrower, quickly and efficiently deals with the situation, a word of caution though if your own small child's it may be wise to render the area temporarily off limits while functioning said apparatus, also check tree for wild animals and sleeping adolescents prior to commencement of operation.
If on the off chance you don't own a Flamethrower building and ignition of a good sized bonfire around the base of the tree will suffice & deal with the invaders, "top tip" if you have any non recyclable plastics include those in the bonfire as they will burn well and the fumes will help smoke out any other nasties that are hiding

I think Termidor doesnt poison the tree. the termites carry it on their body and take it back the nest. It rubs off when they groom the queen and it kills her. But check.

I use a leaf rake and scrape the shit off the tree. They try to rebuild but just keep knocking it of until they give up which doesn't take very long.

I am trying wood vinegar, which is organic, in an attempt to kill them off. I am not sure if it works on an already infected tree or repels them to start with

If you can collect them and rid them of your said tree simultaneously - can be two fold benefit.

Termites can be a quality protein and kinda tasty if prepared right.
Roast 'em up.....great beer/lau snack compliment.

^ dry roasted, they are an acceptable alternative to peanuts. However, the only ones I have tried are the during mating season after the first rains...about a week or two from now.

It's a long "THAI Programme" to start on but ...

    CALL: THAI Programme
    START: GO 1
    1. Find some birds that eat termites, let them get fat
    2. Borrow a neighbours cat, to eat the birds
    3. Set the dogs onto the cat and let them eat it, all up
    4. Bring the cart horse to trample the dogs

IF COUNTRY = Thaiiland GO 5
    ELSE GO 7

    5. Set a trail of bananas to the tree. They will attract a herd of wild elephants to the tree. Stake naptownmike out, under the tree and cover with ripe bananas. The elephants will wander back to the bananas and accidentally stamp on/get rid of the problem, naptownmike.

6.The next morning hose away any residue. Although you're losing valuable trace elements which the tree may be missing, and thus attract more termites.
    7. GO TO 1.
    Else : CALL Police
    NEXT: Claim the life Insurance.
    END:
