    Kudos, Birding.
Unsung threads are usually those of merit.

    Keep up the good work.

You are correct I have always seen it written as L but looking up bird ID sites it is I.

It can be easily mistaken in some fonts when written in lower case. Anyway, it's a great photo. The lighting shows the bird off really well, especially the head area.

They are fairly common around the central plain there are also sub species in many parts of the world including NZ where they are called Pukeko. That photo was taken in Singburi.

I can't match the quality of Birding's pictures. I snapped this one very quick with the phone camera when he sat in next door's coconut tree. As I live very close to the town centre I was surprised to see it at all and I thought it might be a tame escapee, but I have see the pair since I took this pic.

Yes, I think this is the male. I have seen the more colourful Great Hornbill on the Adman Club Island off Ranong but too high in the canopy to get any sort of picture. Once again apologies for the poor image of this one.

Dont know about much the kind in your picture, you could try money.

The feathered kind, these will give some tips :

In Thailand water is important particularly in the dry season so a birdbath in a sheltered place with something for the birds to perch on.

When they arrive (either kind) take some pictures for us.
