I think this guy would have been better camouflaged on a leaf.
It must be one of the smallest butterflies I've ever seen.

Thanks for not holding that coin there with your toe
It was quite high up the wall, otherwise I would have.
This guy has absolutely fantastic camouflage... if sat on a dead leaf. Not so good when sat on a hose.
I disturbed this small white moth under an avocado leaf. I haven't been able to identify it. The camera never wants to focus on something fluffy like this.
It looks white at rest. When it flies you can see the yellow of its fluffy bum.
The closest I have found appears to be the Yellow-tail moth (Euproctis similis) although I am not sure that those are to be found in Thailand.

Well, it was a pretty unseasonal March in rural Sakon Nakon this year. Some very hot days intermixed with some very wet days. I didn't manage to get out and look around for butterflies and they didn't want to come to the Jasmine hedge in the garden. The sunbirds had also already nested and flown away.
I did get a Common Mormon pop into the house one day but it went behind the sofa so wasn't easy to photograph.

As with the others I have seen before, it's a female of the romulus form as a mimic of the Common Rose.
Difficult lighting with the bright light from the window but I should be able to trace around it and put on a neutral background.
Opened the window and off she went...
The heavy rain didn't do much for the butterflies. After a few dry days the squirrels have been back for the papaya and after the squirrels this butterfly. It was about 4 metres up in the tree so another of my definitive nature shots. I haven't yet identified this one, I don't remember having seen one before. Much more interesting in real life than in the picture, it had a sort of shimmer about it.
I'm no expert Shutree but I think that's the 'Red Lady' papaya. We have the same and the squirrels love them.
A couple of days ago I noticed this butterfly having a drink after a rain shower.
The reason I noticed it was that inside/top of the wings had the most beautiful, vivid turquoise pattern I have ever seen.
^^ I would guess that is one of the Barons but difficult to tell which one. Probably a Common Baron Euthalia aconthea - Wikipedia
^ I think that is The Common Jay Graphium doson - Wikipedia
^^ i keep meaning to pay a visit to Pang Sida National Park which is reputed to be great for butterflies
I just looked it up on google. looks like a very nice place. We are planning on taking a ride down to Bangkok one of this days , It looks like we be driving right past it, if we leave 2 in Korat and take 304 down . Should be a nice stop. Perhaps we spend the day there and continue the rest of the way next day. Hive you, or anyone else ever visited and stayed there?
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
I've been a bit busy lately, so haven't really had time to potter around with my camera.

I took this one of a Common Pierrot back in September but didn't post it. Castalius rosimon - Wikipedia
I hope to be able to have a good potter around in early January...
Very nice quality pics, Troy. With your Nikon? What lens did you use?
^ Thanks Nev, these were all taken using my D7200 and 70-300mm lens. I need to take the 500mm lens on an outing but haven't had the time.
Great. I know you've mentioned before that you prefer aperture priority when out photographing (whereas I prefer shutter priority), so what was your F-stop setting for those pics? And approximately what did the shutter speeds end up as?
