^ Yep more specifically Southern China. Semi hardwood cuttings are best but could also be grown from the seed. :)
I don't see White Ginger around here much so when I spotted one in a nursery I snapped it up. Only 80 baht....
The flower is very delicate and wilts quickly if picked. The fragrance is heavenly; perhaps my favorite.

Yeah! I have one of those at home. When I was leaving for Thailand, I didn't trust my younger daughter who lives in my house to look after it and I took it to my other daughter's home. She now tells me that she has divided it several times and has some in her garden and a pot and my big pot of it is still doing well.

I am sure that somewhere I saw the Thai name for White Ginger, but am obviously going blind, as I now cannot find it, what is it please?

Sabang, you have a nice range of colors in your hibiscus. Interesting that they are all singles.
The white orchid is indeed nice. I'd like to have a pure white one like that, but haven't seen one for sale.
The following three flowering trees all happily coexist crammed in together in a corner of the garden. They all get morning shade but full sun for prolly seven hours a day, and are quite happy with it. This ones about 6.5 feet tall'

Love these trees. I have three white frangipani trees too, but they are not doing as well as my pink one, some flowers on two of then but not so many leaves, the other one looks like it's on the way out. The white trees are all quite exposed though, this ones in a more shady position and protected from the wind.

These grow out front but not in the garden. They are a despised feral pest in Australia. Is it an African violet or something? They like it shady and by the water anyway.

Sabang, yep, the second one is bird of paradise (Strelitzia). The third -- the flowers look like morning glory but the stalks do not -- too woody and the leaves are too shiny. If the Thais eat it, it's morning glory.

This one looks as it is from the Ipomoea family. Also known as Morning Glory possibly the Ipomoea purpurea. Definitely not the African Violet.
Other pics are more difficult to identify but hope to come up with results in due course. :thinkerg:
If it is a Pacific Plumeria, it will lose its leaves in the cooler months and come back again when it gets hot again. Sometimes they get a black fungal dust on them and you can remove it with soapy water.Quote:
