    Growing Olive Trees

Has anyone tried to grow olive trees in Isaan?

I don't mean the larger Thai olives but the mediterranean type olives.

Having persuaded the wife to try them, she now eats them more and more and wants to grow a couple of trees on our land. I am not thinking of growing them for the oil but more for pickling the fruit.

Has anyone seen any in Isaan? They don't like wet feet or cold temperatures but I can't see why they wouldn't be reasonably successful growers.

Has anyone seen any trees for sale and at what size / cost?

Any information on locally grown trees and problems associated with them would be gratefully received.

    Thanks....Troy

Might be advisable to find a [Med] hybrid that will do better in higher humidity.

Olive trees, it has been tried before in other parts of Thailand, but not in your neck of the woods, good luck to you, when your Olive trees bare fruit, I will celebrate.

I don't think it matters if you bump an old thread, in the farming section at least!

My mother used to say "If you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing".

So for a miserable turd like you I will say nothing.
