Thread: Please help to identify this climbing plant.

Pffft... a few photos of details like leaf shape, size and color, flower, seedpod, growing rate, even a picture of the tendrils might give us a few more clues... Assuming you talk about a vine growing in Thailand, it might well be one of many weeds that can grow up to a meter a day in the rainy season.

I don't know how Dropbox works. Try uploading the images to imgur.com. See if that works. When you post the image here from imgur.com, use the "BBCode (message boards & forums)" option.

Thanks, looks like I need to hone my pic-loading skills and Gipsy could hone her memory skills.

The person who has these plants tells me they do not twine/twist/wrap around things but only use tendrils to climb.

The root is a normal tap root and not a large/fat root.

Several of the plants have climbed to the tops of large trees.

The tendrils will form roots wherever they touch the soil.

He said it is not any type of Philodendron.

The most confusing part is the cotyledons. They do not match anything I can find.

Also, the leaf margin being somewhat crenate does not match anything.

The leaf color is rather glaucous.

The pattern of the leaf veining does match several Ipomoea but I can't yet find a match there.

The plant is growing in west/central Florida, USA buy could have come from anywhere as people are constantly moving plant material/seeds.

No flowers yet but we are watching for them as that would help with the ID.

I figured since there are so many people on this forum from many different countries that the plant may look familiar to someone.

I'll take a picture later but I have some climbing thing all over my pagoda. The leafs are shaped like vine leaves, if a tad smaller, but right now we have lines of white flowers hanging off them.

I think it is basically a weed or something but we are getting a lot of big bumble bee things one them which I rather like so am leaving it be. The flowers are all blooming from one stem - about 10-20 of them and are 4-6 inches paper thin types. No real smell to them .

Any ideas?

Pragmatic, if there were a prize you would certainly get one. That is the prettiest wrong plant yet. Now I have to get a Cowslip Creepers! Thanks.
