i haven't done much research yet

    but read this

Two goats will produce enough quality fresh milk — with each doe averaging 3 quarts a day for 10 months — to feed your family all year. Add a few more goats and you'll have enough milk for making cheese, yogurt and even ice cream.

More of the world's people consume goat milk than cow milk. Goats are hardy animals: They adapt well to heat and cold, productively forage and graze, require little space, and are inexpensive to keep. Since mature does (females) usually weigh between 120 and 135 pounds (dwarf breeds can weigh between 35 and 85 pounds), they're much easier to handle than hefty cows, which can weigh 1,000 pounds each. Goats may surprise you in other ways, as well. They're highly intelligent, remarkably friendly creatures. And, since they're active, extremely agile and very curious, their antics can amuse you for hours. With all that in mind, it's easy to see why dairy goats can be the ideal addition to today's family farm or homestead.

Everyone keeps goats here, including in the big city. Run around eating everything on the side of the road and all. Dead easy.

it's something that had never occured to me before but we were pootling around san khampaeng walking street the other night and they had a goat milk stall and were doing milking demos with some does

it's apparently something quite novel here

i also have no idea where i'd go to buy one but i shall make it tomorrow's mission

    Goats are practical...
Their milk is a better choice.

As long as your at it - add a couple of geese to the family.

It's disturbing to find out that someone is starting a satanic cult in the Chiangmai area.

The Midget's best mate in her village has a herd of them. Do you want us to bring a couple up or are they available locally?

I keep asking if they would butcher one for us, but all I get are disgusted looks. Same with the rabbits...

Goats are the same as dogs. No such thing as a bad goat only a bad owner.

If this your idea of avoiding the gardening, it's a good idea but ........ they will eat anything and everything within their reach. Check the tethers and move them frequently.

Also beware that sensitive types like your good self can become emotionally attached. A trait you may have passed on to your children.

If it all goes to ratshit I have an excellent recipe for goat curry.

PS they have a liking for mints.

Aw, post pics if you get some, Nooners. I love goats! Not in the same way as Betsy does, obviously...

When we get a garden I'd like some chickens and maybe a goat or two, but Mr NR doesn't agree. He thinks dogs and rats are enough pets

Does your mrs have favourite plants in the garden? They are now gone. Tents shoes, unattended chilblains, all gone. Voracious appetites and not discerning in the least.

I think the biggest cost is the aftermath not the purchase price.

We had a goat as a Regimental mascot. It bit the wife of a visiting dignitary and we had to jail it. Amusing but true.

That wasn't the picture... &, I'm prejudiced against all men with a bigger penis than me, not just black men with a bigger penis than me. I'm full of hate...
