    Wanted banana plants

Well i took someones advice and have cleared a space for 50 banana plants.

Any thoughts on were to get different kinds.

Cavendish would be nice as well as icecream

I am only looking for edible types to start

Will be asking the Ag university in a couple days.

AP if you just want some bananas, find someone who has some. When the plant dies each year new suckers grow out from the base, dig them up and plant.
I've got don't know how many planted at the plantations, welcome to come and dig as many as you like. I never get any bananas from them, the locals get to them first. Jim

No idea what type, just bananas to me and as said very seldom get any of ours.
Last time I cut a bunch, green and hung them in the front of the house to ripen, a big bull elephant came [not wild ] and ate them all.
Easier to go to the market and buy some. Jim

5555 good way to get trampled methinks...

Suggest OP does a walk about...probably lots of locals have banana trees...they grow like bamboo with no attention...we have loads of trees dug up from an aunty's and SILs rubber farms...spent yesterday cutting a lot down to stop bridges to roof for snakes and rats....our dogs eat most when nice and yellow/black.
Make excellent plant food/compost too!! Potassium or somesuch....Good to use stalks cut up around plants to provide moisture and stuff.
If you cannot find freebies just buy 1 dozen or so..within a year you can separate culms or whatever they are called et voila a million more of 'em..

Mate those crap little ones are popular with Thais....think they are called or like lady fingers or......lots of good bananas out there..not sure if he wants to sell..or..probably many varieties are good earners....MIl told me don't let monkey(wild) bananas grow near other edibles as they will be propagate downward by cross fertilization. Hell even wild bananas taste good if you avoid breaking your teeth on seeds......
