Who runs this auction, is it a local co op or was it set up by the rubber board, you always get a better price then me.

Some years ago, there was an attempt to set up a co op sale here, but they had no idea what they were doing. Folded first sale, they didn't tell any of the big buyers from elsewhere, just the usual drive by guys.

Like to know as much as you have on the set up, do they have a full time manager, does the co op take a cut or percentage.
We used to run buys for a guy down south at the factory, we got a baht a kilo [sheet], but he went under.

Always wanted to set something like that up here and as said bank is willing to give soft loans for these sort of things.

^Too bad you cannot set up an Internet site with daily quotes on the prices being offered like the commodities exchange? Or a one number calling point? Get todays quote.

Methinks it would be "shut down" one way or another. Too many %'s would be lost.

    # Local co-op. At least another 3 similar in the province of Udon alone. Know of at least 3 in Bung Khan.
    # I imagine there is a manager, probably the family's land where the auction takes place, they will be on a decent earner, maybe 0.10 - 0.15 Satang per kg. Overnight security too, inc guys with M16s.

The rubber tree chopper down people have arrived in our area, last village on the road backs on to national park, or should back on to the park.
Rubber plantations everywhere, more people being arrested, some very unhappy owners, army did a dawn raid a few days ago, took 5 from my village.
Even fining mushroom collectors in the jungle now, welcome to the world.

Going to have to come up and visit you and have a talk, sold today, 24 bt and that's a Baht over local price, volume.

Trucking up weight, say 10,000 kilos a week may pay after costs.
Prices just have to be stable, not this 30 bt one week and 23 the net, 2 local buyers went to the wall last week.
Every buy they made dropped before delivery, one day a Baht before lunch, crazy world at the moment.

I'm surprised there are no auctions down there in the whole province of Ubon. Not even Buriram? From NBL, NK, Udon to BK i know each province has more than one auction. Gate prices here are generally 2 baht ish less than auction, and i know people who were getting 26 odd baht per kg last week.

Don't know where the nearest auction would be, nearest big processor is Burriram.
To make matters worse, we had government buyers, they mostly bought sheet, price was set by the daily wholesale auctions.
No sheet being made here so no government buyers to set the price, another problem is, the main buyers [not the pickup truck guys] are few an far between and they refuse to buy off individuals, only their pick up guys.
This has set up a monopoly, so they can fix the local prices and the locals are too stupid and un trusting to pool their rubber and truck it out.

No help from the local government guys or the rubber board, it's the fuken twilight zone here, can't get a straight answer off anyone, or like kids they make up stories.

I'd check the province of Buriram out first, or somewhere closer, maybe they have auctions. Shit, Ubon - Udon is a five hour drive, more fully loaded, plus an auction is a 2 day event. Say you deliver 12 noon, you won't get weighed and paid till 24 hours later.

Problem is that if an extra 10.000 hits your local market the prices will tumble - for everyone

10,000 tons maybe. 10,000 kgs or 10 metric tons, the auction bidders would not bat an eyelid.

At 10.000 kg a week it certainly would make a difference in the local auctions, I'd suggest

Nope, not a bit. Not even a tiny bit. That's not even 1 ten wheeler truck load. We are talking the winning bidder having up to 50 mil in cash to buy and pay out in the bigger auctions post rainy season/cool season.
    Auctions are fortnightly, not weekly.

Auction yesterday and today, dunno the price - did'nt have any product worth selling. 4000 odd fried eggs of cup rubber aint worth a lot. Worst fortnight of persistent rain we've experienced in our 5 seasons of tapping.

I was out cycling today and I noticed that at one particular copse of rubber trees someone had threw/dropped the full collection cups on the floor with their full content. May be the rains, may be the prices?
I've also noticed many rai of rubber trees aren't being tapped at all.

Thai way, don't bother to collect the rubber, throw it on the ground when the cups get near full.
Tap another set and collect 2 lots together.

Well over 2 weeks, not one dry day, tappers cut day or night, when ecer the rain stops long enough.

Sold @ auction yesterday, 25.16 baht per kg. Local gate price 23.50 on the same day. Superb production because it was a month's worth in a fortnight sale...
