1958. As much as I like these pics, they do show tragedy for nature...
This was my salmon lunch yesterday:

Given the sun is on his neck I can even forgive this guy having his cap turned around.
This caught in thailand.
While not the most exciting of fish stories, the common variety of mackerel that is consumed by the millions in Thailand deserves its rightful place in a thread of this magnitude. Thais know this fish as pla tu. I am somewhat familiar with this type of fish due to having a very spoiled cat that eats one of these every day. Said cat is over 4 years old, so I figure I must have cleaned and prepared about 1,500 of these so far.
I live a considerable distance from the sea, and the ones we get here are not as fresh as those found in coastal areas. The cat doesn't seem to mind too much though. A pair of these babies costs 15 to 20 baht here in the 16 cm size range. On occasion my wife's uncle from Samut Songkhram will bring up a load of very fresh ones. When that happens, it's like a feeding frenzy amongst the extended family members. I don't particularly like to eat fish, but they're not bad when fried and served with thin white noodles, leafy vegetables and spicy chile sauce.
So here they are for you viewing pleasure, the ubiquitous pla tu:
Never a big fan of moray eels, but this is pretty cool.
^^ Interesting to see that. Based on what I read in Wikipedia about the moray's reputation, that kind of activity is best left to others though.
"The moray's rear-hooked teeth and primitive but strong bite mechanism also makes bites on humans more severe, as the eel cannot release its grip, even in death, and must be manually pried off."
Stoker would nail her...
