I witnessed a guy from the Philippines take a welding test for a job on a US Air Force base. It was a welding test and he only used a piece of colored glass (no shield) and he got the job. Sad part was there was a full welding helmet available for him to use and he just chose the piece of colored glass. The corrupt part was that the guy that was in charge of hiring was another guy from the Philippines.
I've lived here over 20 years, and building sites still freak me out. Rubber flip-flops, no goggles, no hard hats, and, as you said, if there were piles of steel toe boots, helmets and goggles on site, they wouldn't use them anyway.Quote:
