At least 13 people including 2 children have died following clashes between soldiers in the volatile south Sudan town of Malakai. Southern Sudan is due to become the world's newest nation on 9 July 2011. It's referendum is part of a deal to end decades of conflict between the north and south

Roads being constructed in the region

Despite the construction boom, southern Sudan remains one of the least developed nations in the world if people choose independence. Corruption and military spending being the main causes. (heard that before somewhere?)

The current Sudanese President( pictured on the right) and the rebel turned President of the south on the left.

More than 6,000 police have recently been recruited to boost security in the south

They've obviously had some kind of contact with the outside world as that looks like a modern cooking pot in the middle bottom of the picture.

Fantastic thread Mr Lick keep up the good work. You missed a good shot though of a certain English Gentleman's facial expression after waiting for 45 minutes for a Pepper steak in the Smile restaurant in khon Kaen to be asked what meat do they use to make it with. That look of stunned frustration was indeed priceless.

'New pictures have been released of an isolated tribe living in rainforest on the Brazil-Peru border'.

'Brazil monitors many such tribes from the air, and they are known as "uncontacted" because they have only limited dealings with the outside world'.

'Photographs of the same tribe were released to the world two years ago'

    Source www.bbc.co.uk

Just to clarify the release of the pics and the 'uncontacted' bit
