Pigeons fly after the rain as Typhoon Muifa passes near the coastal area of Shanghai, Aug. 7. Typhoon Muifa weakened as it approached China's coast on Sunday, avoiding a direct-hit on the financial capital of Shanghai and veering north towards a tip of Shandong province that juts into the Yellow Sea.

Saimaiti Aishan, a 27-year-old Uighur tightrope-walking acrobat, hangs onto a 15-meter-long tightrope connected between two hot air balloons as he fails in an attempt for setting a 100-meter height record in Langshan, Hunan province Aug. 6. Aishan, the nephew of Adili Wuxor, who is known as "Prince of the Tightrope", is the first person to perform tightrope walking between two hot air balloons. He set a national tightrope walking record at 30 meters high on Saturday, but failed in his attempt of 100 meters, local media reported.

    Man City 2 - 3 Man Utd

Nani's 94th-minute winner completed a superb comeback by Manchester United as they overcame derby rivals Manchester City to clinch the Community Shield.
With no extra-time to be played and penalties looming, the Portuguese winger pounced on some hesitant City defending to run on to a Wayne Rooney clearance, round Joe Hart and slot home.
City had led 2-0 at half-time after a shaky start by United's Spanish keeper David De Gea saw him beaten by Joleon Lescott's header and Edin Dzeko's long-distance drive.
But United, beaten at Wembley on their last two visits - by Barcelona in the Champions League final and City in the FA Cup semi-final - responded by taking the game to their neighbours and ultimately they got their reward.

Chris Smalling reduced the deficit when he turned in Ashley Young's free-kick before Nani levelled before the hour mark by finishing off a stunning passing move.
City held firm and even threatened to retake the lead when Adam Johnson tested Aguero, but it was United who laid down the marker for the forthcoming Premier League campaign, beginning the defence of their title by collecting more silverware.

Nani equalises shortly afterward with some stunning interplay between him, Rooney and Cleverley

The look of despair on De Jong's face says it all as Nani robs him on the halfway line and slots the ball past Hart to win the game in the 94th minute

"PARIS, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- European heavy-lift launcher Ariane 5 lifted off two communication satellites on Saturday.

The Ariane 5, carrying Astra 1N and BSAT-3c/JCSAT-110R, was launched at 2252 GMT on Saturday from Kourou launch centre in French Guiana, according to live broadcast of the launching process.

This was the fourth mission of Ariane 5 in 2011 and its 203th flight that sent off the two satellites Saturday night to their respective geostationary transfer orbits.

Astra 1N, to be separated first, is built by EADS Astrium in Toulouse, France, for the Luxembourg-based operator SES Astra. With a designed lifespan of 15 years, it has an estimated liftoff mass of 5,350 kg and is fitted with 52 active Ku-band transponders.

It is initially to deliver interim capacity from an orbital position of 28.2 degree East, and will subsequently move to SES Astra's prime location at 19.2 degree East for primary and backup services.

BSAT-3c/JCSAT-110R is manufactured by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems in Newtown, Pennsylvania, for Japanese operators B-SAT Corporation and SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation. This satellite weighs approximately 2,910 kg at launch time. It is to be positioned at 110 degree East longitude in geostationary orbit with a lifetime exceeding 16 years."

Adam Scott wins WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio

Australian Adam Scott captured the WGC Invitational by four shots after a commanding final round of 65 in Ohio.

The 31-year-old had a bogey-free round to finish at 17 under, ahead of Rickie Fowler, who shot a 66, and world number one Luke Donald, also round in 66.

Rory McIlroy carded a 67 to share sixth at 10 under, Lee Westwood was one more back after a fine 65 and Scot Martin Laird's 72 left him joint 11th.

Tiger Woods was wayward off the tee but tied for 37th at one over after a 70.

"I was hitting it great then all of sudden I absolutely lost it but I got it back at the end," said Woods, who had three successive birdies on the back nine at the end of his first tournament for 12 weeks following injury.

"I've just got to keep playing. It's just something that comes over time of just playing and getting the feel for it."

For his former caddie Steve Williams, it was a remarkable eighth victory at the event, having been in the employment of Woods for seven between 1999 and 2009.
