Gareth Roberts: Young Welsh rally star killed in Sicily

A rising Welsh star in world motor rallying, 24-year-old Gareth Roberts, has been killed in an event in Italy.
He was co-driver in the Peugeot 207 being driven by Irish team-mate Craig Breen - who was unhurt - at the Targa Florio rally in Sicily.
The event is part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. No spectators were involved.
The rest of the event has been called off as a mark of respect to Roberts, from Carmarthen.
Southend woman's face gouged during mugging
A 22-year-old woman had her face gouged during a mugging by a gang in a park in Southend.
It happened at 12:30 BST on Tuesday in Southchurch Hall Park.
A female attacker scratched the victim's face while four men kicked her in the legs and waist and stole £62, store cards and a gold chain.
Det Con Rory Scarlett said: "This was an absolutely terrifying attack on a woman who was left severely distressed and covered in blood."
Police said one line of inquiry is that an organised gang may be responsible for a number of muggings in the area.
The victim, who asked to be named only as Leanne, has agreed to the police releasing a photo of her injuries
US commerce secretary John Bryson in hit-and-run probe
A member of the US cabinet is being investigated by police after being involved in a series of car crashes in California, including a hit-and-run.
Police say Secretary of Commerce John Bryson caused one crash. He was found unconscious in his car after another.
A spokeswoman said he suffered a "seizure" at the time of Saturday's three collisions near Los Angeles.
Police said there was no initial indication of alcohol or drug use and no charges have yet been filed.
Mr Bryson, an ex-Edison International chairman, took office last October

Cricketer Tom Maynard dies after being hit by Tube train
Surrey cricketer Tom Maynard has died after being struck by a London Underground train.
The batsman, 23, from Cardiff, played for his county in the t20 game against Kent on Sunday.
Monday's incident involved a District Line train at Wimbledon Park station.
Police said a man matching Maynard's description ran away after a car being driven "erratically" was stopped shortly before. The police watchdog IPCC is investigating.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "At approximately 04:15 BST on Monday, 18 June, officers stopped a vehicle after it was seen being driven erratically in Arthur Road, SW19.
"The male driver of the vehicle - a black Mercedes C250 - made off on foot. Officers were unable to locate the man.
"At approximately 05:10 BST the body of a man fitting the same description was found on tracks near Wimbledon Park station."

John Prescott among Labour police commissioner hopefuls
Former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Prescott has been announced as one of Labour's candidates to be a police commissioner later this year.
He will stand in Humberside, which includes the seat of Hull East, where he served as an MP for 40 years.
Other candidates around England and Wales include ex-ministers Vera Baird and James Plaskitt, and former Welsh First Minister Alun Michael.
Commissioners, paid £70,000 a year, will be able to sack chief constables.
Elections take place for all 41 forces around England and Wales on 15 November, with the government promising that the change will make policing more accountable and better geared to communities' needs.
Commissioners will also be tasked with setting budgets
