A fleet of yellow New York taxis will take to the road in London tomorrow (Friday) - ready to whisk passengers to the airport for a free holiday in the US city. The first person to hail each of the 30 cars will win a weekend break in the Big Apple for themselves and a friend. They will need to have their passports and luggage on them because they will be driven straight to Heathrow Airport for the start of their trip. Winners will then board a Virgin Atlantic flight to the Big Apple, where they will stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Financial District.The mini-break is being offered by Virgin Atlantic to mark the firm's 30th birthday

X-Ray vision may sound like fantasy, but this is one of a series of images giving a glimpse of what is hidden inside bags, pockets, and even beneath clothes. Artist Nick Veasey, 51, takes human curiosity and turns it into something spectacular in his latest collection of work, titled 'X-ray Voyeurism'. A giant statue of U.S. actress Marilyn Monroe lies facedown at a rubbish dump in Guigang, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The eight-metre-tall stainless steel statue, which weighs about eight tonnes and was made by several Chinese artists, is based on the famous scene from her movie The Seven Year Itch. German caver rescued



A caver trapped in German's deepest cavern for 12 days after a rockfall has been brought to the surface after a mammoth rescue operation






There was a tense wait as the rescue party neared the entrance to the cave early on Thursday. In the final stage, the stretcher carrying Mr Westhauser had to be hoisted up a 180m (600ft) vertical shaft.












Johann Westhauser was one of the explorers who originally discovered the vast cave system in 1995. It stretches for about 19km (12 miles).
