A close-up photo of a caterpillar cleverly camouflaging itself as a snake to ward off predators. Professor Daniel Janzen captured the image as part of his work cataloguing caterpillars and says this is part of the hemeroplanes species. The neon-green bug creates the illusion of looking like a dangerous reptile by expanding parts at the end of its body. Its defence - designed to ward of predators while it is a larvae before becoming a moth - is so well developed it will even strike harmlessly if approached. Daniel, who is a professor of biology at the University of Pennsylvannia, snapped the bug while working in the Area de Conservacion Guanacaste, Costa Rica

A photographer caught the exact moment lightening struck two of New York City's tallest buildings. Creative director Jon Rubino, 39, captured the amazing shot of the Empire State Building and the new Freedom Tower, also known as One World Trade Center, from his apartment on Friday night during a fierce thunderstorm. Jon, from New York, has been trying to capture spectacular lightening shots like these for four years. When he heard the shutter click as the sky lit up, he knew he had captured the perfect shot. Jon claims it's the only genuine, unaltered photograph showing a strike on both buildings.
