Ok I could be well wrong here but I think I am not, orchards flower when they think they are going to die, ie you got a lovely orchard that aint flowered in years but the leaves look really healthy, then just chuck it out into the full sun for a week and maybe every 3 days give it some water, I used to have orchards that I cared for on my balconey here, gently spraying their roots everyday and shading them from the harsh sun, never had any of them flower, had a load of crappy ones downstairs in the front garden that used to get the occasional hose down, the leaves looked shite but did they flower

I think it's common knowledge among nurserymen that some plants flower with more vigor when "punished". I used to force my mango trees to flower by smoking them and beating the trunks with a machete.

As a matter of fact, I have an orchid cane in my yard that I tied to a tree in the hope that it would produce a "keiki" (new stem with roots). Instead, it has produced a flower stalk. So, there I have a stem, with no leaves and roots that his produced a bunch of flowers. Go figure.

On the other hand, healthy plants in the right environment will also flower well:

Well, there was the old remedy for lemon trees that didnt bear fruit.

You leant the axe against them and then in a month or so, the tree would give fruit.

I have a town house and I have grown a vine over the front grille beside the gate for privacy, but now of course no sun comes in.
The other side is not covered though, and would get some sun, so maybe I will go to chatuchak this weekend and buy some to try there.

    Your garden looks lovely Buadthai.

Well, everybody has been showing nice pictures of Orchids and Mango trees so I feel a bit embarassed about this pic:

Looking out by window you can see this building that burned a couple of years ago. Two babies and their Burmese maid were killed in the fire. It made the front post of the BKK Post at the time.

The building is still empty. It doesn't look that bad from the outside, but the heat was so intense that the rebar was damaged and the building has been condemed.

Couldn't you get it in focus or was it moving too fast?

Oh dear are you getting lazy then MTD? I like it. Sit back crack a beer and let them do all the work. Then slip it in 30s and back to the beer.

Good stuff. I think I will try that one as well.

That's one thing that I do miss about my part of the UK. It was clean with pretty much zero litter. I've not seen anywhere is Asia that is pristine.

But the weather kind of beats you down after a while. One grim, foggy, drizzly day after the other.

This is what the 'prison' looks like from the sky (it's actually a shopping area, makes it handy to buy things since I don't need to drive the car and waste gasoline):
