    Singapore is unreal. When you get out of there you find yourself thinking that it was a bit like a bubble. They are the first country I know of that introduced a bowl of sweets on the immigration counter. Others have followed suit.

    ^It depends on the type orchid. I've noticed that most people around here (Korat) tend to shade their orchids too much which means they don't get many flowers. Dendrobium (one of the easiest and most common) can take full sun for half the day or 50% sun for the full day. If the leaves are dark green then they're probably not getting enough sun. The leaves should be slightly yellowish. This type of orchid is a good choice for a a sunny area, and would do very well under GoW's tree.

    Of course, there are exceptions. Some varieties, such as Phalanopsis need shade all day and will be doing fine if the leaves are dark green.
