This one brings back some unhappy memories for me. My clap doctors, the British Dispensary, are just a couple of doors down from the Copa Nightclub on the left and I visited them regularly. You can just make out the snake logo on the store. They later produced St Luke's talcum powder with the same logo and then developed the British Nursing Home - all with seed capital financed by my extremely bad taste in women. The Holden in the foreground looks suspiciously like one of the company vehicles we had at the time.
Interestingly enough, the original [of the early/mid Chulalongkorn era] grounds of the British Dispensary housed a few buildings and acted not just as a pharmaceutical outlet, but also as a "foreign" general mercantile locale and associated expat social/gathering club - during the days when the English were the favoured and accepted foreigners within the royal circles, usually engaged in long-standing business and diplomatic affairs......hence, the significant number of English-folk throughout the kingdom.

Beyond the flyover is what would become JJ Park, flyover to the right continues along Vibavadi Rangsit Rd to Don Muang.
This 1980 photo taken while JJ Park is evolving below. The lakes and paths are laid out as it is today.
Central would later appear between the junction to the left.
