A very nice thread. I love a bit of history and have many old snaps of the area around my Mother's house. On the subject of old cars, I noticed some Austin A30/35, a couple of Hillman Minx, an Austin A60 and what looked like a Commer Cob (I love old cars as well). Great stuff.

Thanks. Actually, if you think about it and one considers the vehicle exports to Thailand in those days {30s-60s}, it makes sense that there was a wealth of British models here. Those were the good old days - when the UK had a fair place in the worldwide market. I too, am fascinated with those older vehicles....

The youngest daughter. Notice they don't have an "official" Royal title. Technically, I believe they both still retain Royal names, respectively.

Yep terrific thread mate, great pictures and a lot of information.

In fact the first time I have ever opened a thread more than 2 pages long and studied every post.

    Well done.

    Partially true.

She divorced the American many years ago and is back in the fold.

She has a Royal title, lives here full time, though she will never regain the Royal rank she had before.

Her actions removed her from being what you said in the last sentence.

Thank you Bobcock, I was completely unaware that she had divorced. And I am glad to hear that she is here full-time now. Thanks for the update. Great thing about TD - always new info being traded.

Shadow Music of Thailand * 1966

..this broad term given to the Thai guitar pop movement of the 1960s and the groups it spawned. Rather short-lived though.

Depiction of the Occupation of Trat by the French * 1904

From 1904-1909, The Kingdom of Siam had retained almost all of it's threatened national borders through war and treaty with the French & British.

As BC said she's now back in the fold...should have been no surprise that she married an American seeing she was born and rasied there - as was her father...

Good thread RS...much better than the normal dross you post...

Just searching off the net.....a great deal of the photos of everyday life in Thailand, the war-related pics, etc - those are from my Father. I didn't have many. Most are with one of my other daughters in the Pacific. But largely...I'm just finding this shit on the web.
