Though, a bit trivial - Early Chulalongkorn era pic of the Klong Toey riverside, before the shipping areas developed. Noticing how high the river shore is....a reflective testament to up country natural klong/river systems of yesteryear.
Actually, there were American diplomatic representatives and their assemblage, in Chiang Mai, as far back as the very late 1880s - most certainly through the 1890s.
A British Legation were present in Chiang Mai, as well, during this period - to be sure, the British had great business interests in the north,
