So how long where you back in the states for? Did you find that you had changed and your attitude to the USA had changed also?

So tell us about your next trip which included Singapore, Jakarta, Noumea, Sydney, Auckland, Nandi, Papaeete, LAX.

Is this the trip that saw you on the wrong side of the law in Bali?
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Back to SF, and my mate Michael Stone had rented an apartment for myself, Deborah and him on California St. Very nice 2 bedroom 2 bath with a view south to the bay.

Since I had my real estate license already I decided I would make fast money selling property in the SF bay area. It was the right time as everything in land sales was booming.

Since I wanted to leave again for Asia in January and it was already April I needed to max out on selling. So I picked the 3 best areas out of the city. Marin county, Sonoma/Napa County, and the area around Palo Alto. The first would be Sonoma as I knew a lot of farm land was being turned into wineries, how could I capitalize on this?

My first decent sale was about 400 acres of prime wine land right next to the former Inglenook Estate that FF Copolla had purchased 3 years before to start his winery called the Neibaum Copploa Winery. The land was on the southwest slope again and it gave this winery possibly the premier large plot in the area. With the commission on this one sale I was set, but it worked out even better as I was able to give basically full time jobs to two great friends Pat Parnow became his cabinet maker, and Rob Butori went to work as a production supervisor.

But it was still only September. A friend Jeff Haug had a job as a publicist with the SF 49er pro football team. I asked him if any of the players were looking for houses. Hit paydirt again. Back in 1978 I sold a house worth 750,00 dollars to Freddie Solomon the wide receiver. So by December I was ready to hit the road again, and also knew when I came back in 9 to 12 months I could pick right back up again.

This time Deborah Klinkenborg would come with me for the entire trip. I had met her a year before at a party in Sausalito, and we had had a great time for two weeks on Maui, as I was coming home from the first adventure. She was German but spent a lot of time in the Bay Area modeling. Plus she was up for the adventure as well.

Funny enough I hadnt even noticed Thai women. And bringing a blond to Thailand was something I sure would not do now. But it turned into a great adventure. We ended up doing this trip together, and the next one that ended so wierdly as well.

Mike was happy to keep the apartment as he was beginning his plan of buying supermarkets in the bay area.

If you open your eyes, pops, you'll see a big capital 'A' above the text that you are writing. Try clicking that.
